Death Notices+Guest Books | In Memoriam From Friends & Family Norman J. Berthiaume Norman J. Berthiaume 1933 - 2004 CHICOPEE - Norman J. Berthiaume, 71, of Celebration Circle, Chicopee, and formerly of Porter Drive, Agawam, ended his life's journey on October 28, 2004 at a local nursing home. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Arthur and Rose Berthiaume and had been a resident of Agawam most of his life, moving to Chicopee 6 years ago. Norman was a member of Agawam Baptist Church. Norman was a U.S. Navy veteran who faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict. Along with his wife, Norman belonged to Sunday Night Social League at the Agawam Bowl. Prior to his retirement in 1999, Norman was employed by Westside Auto Parts, West Springfield. Previously he owned Norm's Candy and Snack, was employed by State Line Potato Chip, Wilbraham, and had also worked for the Springfield Newspaper. His beloved wife, the former Eloise Roughton, to whom he was a life partner for 43 years, predeceased him on Dec. 21, 1997. A brother George also predeceased him in 1980. Norman is survived by a son, Robert Berthiaume of Chicopee and his companion Nancy Pearlstein of the Feeding Hills section of Agawam; a daughter, Lorraine Berthiaume of Chicopee; a brother-in-law, Brad Roughton of Manteo, North Carolina; 2 brothers, Raymond and his wife Alice Berthiaume of Agawam, and Charles Berthiaume of Las Vegas, Nevada; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Norman will be held on Monday beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam, followed by services at 9:30 a.m. in Agawam Baptist Church, 760 Main Street, Agawam. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Springfield. Calling hours will take place at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Flowers are welcome or if you wish, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Lung Assoc. of Western Mass., 393 Maple Street, Springfield, MA 01105.
