    3. Francis J. Marien Francis J. Marien, 83 Longtime Westminster resident; was a papermaker Sentinel & Enterprise WESTMINSTER -- Francis J. Marien, 83, of 4 Grassy Pond Road, died Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 3, in Heywood Memorial Hospital, Gardner, after an illness. He was born in Fitchburg, the son of James Damien and Alphonsine V. (Masse) Marien, and had lived in Westminster for the past 45 years. Mr. Marien was a machine operator at the former James River Paper Co. in Fitchburg for 33 years and retired in 1983. While working at the paper mill he was a longtime union steward. He had been an avid bowler and was in many industrial leagues and had won several tournaments over the past years. He also enjoyed playing golf and most enjoyed playing cards especially cribbage. He was a member of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Westminster. Mr. Marien leaves his wife of 62 years, Alice J. (Kazokas) Marien, and his daughter, Pamela A. Schultz of Brewster; his grandchildren, Michael P. Schultz of Eddington, Maine and Jeffrey F. Schultz of Cherry Valley, Lorrell A. Clements of Veazie, Maine; his great-grandchildren, Chelsea R. Schultz, Thomas M. Schultz and Peter F. Schultz of Eddington, and Rebecca A. Clements and Nathan Clements of Veazie, Maine. He was predeceased by four brothers, Charles, George, Walter, and Robert Marien and six sisters, Beatrice Harris, Nancy Mattson, Rita Connors, Millie Girard, Laurie Hanks and Evelyn Steinbring. MARIEN -- On Nov. 3, Francis J. Marien, 83, of Westminster. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a day and time to be announced. There are no calling hours.
