Death Notices+Guest Books | In Memoriam From Friends & Family Sr. Mary Clementia SP Sr. Mary Clementia SP HOLYOKE - Luella Elizabeth Coutu, daughter of Mary Coutu and step-daughter of Fred Payant, entered the Sisters of Providence in 1933. She was in her 72nd year of her religious life. Sr. Mary Clementia served as supervisor of the dining room at St. Luke's Home in Springfield for twenty-three years. She was a "cottage mother" at Our Lady of Providence Children's Center (Brightside) in West Springfield for seven years. Sister then ministered as ward secretary at the Providence Hospital in Holyoke, MA from 1970 through her formal retirement in 1994, following which she volunteered as ward clerk in the Sisters of Providence Infirmary until 1999, when her own health required her admission to the infirmary. Sister is survived by her Sisters in Community; and her nieces, Sally Hall of Frederica, DE, and Sandra McCarver of Silva, MO; her brother-in-law, George Yates of Frederica, DE; and several cousins, including Doris Barnes of Colrain, MA. The wake will be held on Sunday, October 31st from 3 to 7:30 p.m. at Providence Place, 5 Gamelin Street, Holyoke, MA. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 1st in the Providence Place Chapel.
