CULLEN. Marie (Daoust) Cullen, 85, widow of Eugene E. Cullen of East Hartford died Saturday (July 8, 1995). Born August 1, 1909 in Athelston, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late J. Mathias and Matilde (Larche) Daoust. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Pittsfield, Mass., where she attended local schools, and business college, and she became a naturalized citizen. She was married on June 20, 1936. Following the death of her husband in 1950, she was employed by the East Hartford School system, as a secretary of the Silver Lane Elementary School, and the Penny High School and at the time of her retirement in 1976, was Office Manager at the East Hartford High School. She was secretary of the East Hartford Redevelopment Commission for many years. A 59 year resident of East Hartford, she was a communicant of Saint Mary's Church, and a life member of the Daughters of Isabella. She is survived by four sons, Thomas M. Cullen and John J. Cullen, both of East Hartfo! rd, Eugene E. Cullen Jr., of Cromwell, and James C. Cullen of Bethel; two daughters, Patricia A. Fliakos of West Hartford, and Honora M. Futtner of South Windsor; a brother, A. Odessa Daoust; two sisters, Lucille E. George and Alma R. Premerlani, all of Pittsfield, Mass.; 15 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services at Notre Dame Church and burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pittsfield, were held Wednesday. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 15, at 9 a.m., at Saint Mary's Church. East Hartford. The family will receive friends immediately following the Mass. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Local arrangements are being handled by Paul B. Andrews through the Molloy Funeral Home, West Hartford.
