Ida R. Plante Ida R. Plante 1925 - 2004 SPRINGFIELD - Ida (Racine) Plante, 78, of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Wednesday November 17, 2004 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Sainte Anne de Beaupre, Province of Quebec, Canada on November 30, 1925 a beloved daughter of the late Frederick and Rosanne (Boucher) Racine. She moved from Canada to East Longmeadow in 1945 and had lived in Springfield since 1947. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church on Boston Road in Springfield. She was a longtime parishioner of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church on Harriet Street in Springfield and a member of the Ladies of Sainte Anne Sodality of the Church. She was also a former longtime captain for the annual Catholic Charities Appeal for the Diocese of Springfield at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church and served her parish as a longtime volunteer for their Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Classes. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Gerard J. Plante who was Called Home on August 27, 1961 at the age of 14 and her beloved husband of 57 years, Albert J. Plante who was Called Home on June 30, 2003. They were married at Sainte Anne de Beaupre on November 10, 1945. She leaves her loving daughter, Helene R. Calvanese and her husband Frank of Westfield. Her four loving granddaughters who cherish her memory, Deborah Calvanese of Springfield, Elizabeth Calvanese of Chicopee, Sarah Calvanese and Amy Calvanese of Westfield. Her dear brother, Gerard Racine of Montreal, Province of Quebec, Canada. Her dear sister, Jacqueline Racine Lachance of Sainte Anne de Beaupre, Province of Quebec, Canada and her many dear nephews and nieces. She was also predeceased by her ten dear brothers and two dear sisters. Her funeral will be held Monday morning November 22, 2004 at 10:15 a.m. from the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, 7 Chapin Terrace at the corner of Chestnut Street in Springfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 405 Boston Road in Springfield. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State Street in Springfield.
