    3. E. Jeannette Merrell September 21, 1921 - November 11, 2004 PLAINFIELD- E. Jeannette Merrell, age 83, of 137 Plainfield Pike, Plainfield, died Thursday at home. She was born in Norwich on September 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Ernest F. and Henrietta C. (Hall) Buell. She was married to George G. Merrell on August 17, 1944 at the First Congregational Church of Hampton, he survives her. Mrs. Merrell graduated from Plainfield High School in 1940 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Foods and Nutrition from the University of Connecticut in 1944. She was coowner of Westview Orchards in Plainfield and also coowner of Browning Stand and The White Face Inn in Lisbon. She was a life member of the First Congregational Church in Plainfield, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and the O.J.S. She was a descendant of Governor William Bradford, Plymouth Plantation, Plymouth, MA She was a member of the Windham County 4H Association, 4H Club, where she was a 4H leader, a member of the Brooklyn Fair Association, a member of the Deborah Avery Putnam Chapter of the D.A.R. in Plainfield, Windham County Farm Bureau, 50 year member of the Plainfield Grange #140, Plainfield Home Economics Club and the Rebeccah Lodge in Central Village. Besides her husband she is survived by her son Dr. Dale E. Merrell and his wife Karen of Jacksonville, FL, three daughters; JoAnn Desrochers and her husband Paul of Moosup, Susan C. Minta and her husband John of Griswold and Cathie J. Beausoleil and her husband Ray of Tolland, one sister, Mildred McBroome and her husband Tom of Plainfield, ten grandchildren; Benjamin G. Desrochers, Lauren G. Niffenegger, J. Catherine Desrochers, Christine Walker, Denise Taylor, Kelly Minta, Kevin Beausoleil, Rebecca Painter, Ryan Merrell and Brennan Merrell. She is also survived by two sistersinlaw; Hazel Johnson and Jean Buckley and her caregiver, Patty Barnes. She was predeceased by her grandson Keith Minta. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 4:00 P.M. in The First Congregational Church of Plainfield. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to The First Congregational Church of Plainfield, 519 Norwich Road, Plainfield, CT 06374.
