Father Fortier is survived by his brothers and sisters, Wilfrid, Roland, Henri-Paul, Roger, Aurore, Lorette, Therese and Bernadette. He was predeceased by his parents, Pierre and Rose Anna; brother, Leo; and twin-sister, Marie-Blanche Fortier.
