Ernest C. Cormia November 13, 2004 FOREST DALE - Ernest Clarence Cormia, 72, died Nov. 11, 2004, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Middlebury, the son of George and Martha (Clark) Cormia. He attended Middlebury High School. Mr. Cormia was a taxi driver in Albany, N.Y., for many years, and later became a chef and cooked at various restaurants in the Albany and Rensselaer, N.Y., area. He returned to Vermont in 1986 and worked as a chef at the Ponderosa Restaurant in Rutland and later at Smoke Rise Restaurant in Brandon for 13 years, retiring in 2000. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Helen Broadhurst of Forest Dale; seven sons, Joseph Cormia Sr. and Shawn Cormia, both of Forest Dale, Ernest Cormia Jr. and Michael Cormia, both of Rutland, John Cormia of Shrewsbury, Paul Cormia of Brandon and William Cormia of Pittsford; two daughters, Sally Cormia of Florida and Robin Clark of Rutland; 33 grandchildren; and several cousins. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at noon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brandon. The Rev. Albert Baltz, pastor, will officiate. A private burial will take place at a later date. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. A time of fellowship and reflection will take place in the parish hall at St. Mary's Church following the funeral service.
