Sister Anne White Sr. Anne White, SP HOLYOKE - Sr. Anne White, formerly known as Sr. Marie Reparatrice, entered the Sisters of Providence in 1928, and was in the 77th year of her religious life. She was the daughter of John and Della (Considine) White. Sr. Anne served in the Admitting Office of several institutions staffed by the Sisters of Providence, including Mercy Hospital, Holy Family Institute, and St. Vincent Hospital. She was administrator of the former St. Luke's Hospital, Pittsfield for sixteen years, and during her tenure at the hospital also served as Superior of the local convent for six years. Other ministries included secretary-receptionist at the former Holy Child Guild, Westfield, and Assistant Director of Volunteers at Our Lady of Providence Home for Children, West Springfield, and Director of Volunteers at the Providence Hospital, Holyoke. After completion of studies and earning a certificate in Pastoral Ministry, Sister was a staff member of the Department of Spiritual Care at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, until her retirement. Following her retirement, Sister continued her pastoral ministry doing volunteer work with the elderly through visits to nursing homes in the Worcester area. Her ministry also included service at St. Patrick's Parish and Rutland Heights Hospital, both in Rutland, MA, St. Aloysius Parish, Rochdale and Sacred Heart Parish, Worcester. Sister was a member of many civic and professional organizations including the American College of Hospital Administrators, serving on its Administrative Board, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, Senior Service Corporation Friendly Visitors of Worcester. In 1978, she was elected an alternate to the Senate of Religious for the Diocese of Worcester. Sr. Anne White is survived by her Sisters in Community; her sister, Elizabeth Mullen of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews, including Rev. William White of New York. The Wake will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 from 3:00-7:30 p.m. at Providence Place, 5 Gamelin Street, Holyoke, MA. Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 24th at 10:00 a.m. in the Providence Place Chapel.
