Here is the full obituary for this obit Jeannette sent last week - Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) November 10, 2004 Sr. Mary John Edition: ALL Section: DEATHS Page: B5 Dateline: MARLBOROUGH Index Terms: OBITS Article Text: MARLBOROUGH Sr. Mary John of Carmel, (Clarice Chauvin), a Sister of St. Anne, died at the age of 90 at Marie Esther Health Center, in this city, on November 8. She was in the 71st year of religious life. She was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste and Emma (Carmel) Chauvin of Webster, MA. She completed her elementary education in that city, but obtained her high school diploma from St. Anne Academy, Marlborough, MA. She earned a B.A. and an M.A. degree from the University of Montreal, Quebec; and a PhD. degree in English Literature from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. She entered the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Anne in Lachine, Quebec, and in 1933 pronounced her religous vows. She taught for eleven years in Montreal schools staffed by the Congregation before returning to the United States. In 1948, she joined the faculty of Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA, as professor of English literature. Over the years, she became Chairperson of the English Department, Dean of Students, and Registrar, respectively. Sister is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She will be waked at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road, Marlborough, on Wednesday, November 10 from 2 to 4 and 6-8 p.m with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, November 10, at 10 a.m in the Convent chapel, with burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Marlborough. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sullivan, Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home, Lincoln Street, Marlborough.
