Louanna Smith, PORT ORANGE, Fla. - Longtime volunteer for the state heart association November 10. 2004 8:00AM P ORT ORANGE, Fla. -- Louanna (Forest) Smith, 82, of Bent Oak Drive and formerly of Concord, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, after suffering from a massive stroke Sept. 11, 2004, at the home of her son, Bruce Smith, in Orlando. Calling hours will be held Nov. 17 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Shannon Funeral Home, 4084 Halifax Drive, Port Orange, Fla. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Nov. 18 at 11 a.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church, 201 Lafayette St., Port Orange, Fla. ~~~ Louanna was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Manchester, the daughter of Louis Adelard Forest (born in Canada) and Exima Marie Lareau (born in New Hampshire). She graduated from St. George High School in Manchester. Louanna and her husband Virgil moved to Port Orange in 1983 from Concord, when he retired as a CPA with Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Co. Louanna was a retired legal secretary and was a volunteer for the New Hampshire Heart Association for more than 20 years in Concord, where she was a member of the board of directors for three years and served as annual meeting chairwoman for two years. She was an Avon representative since 1985. Louanna is predeceased by her husband, Virgil C. Smith, who was born in Salem, Ore., Dec. 14, 1916, and raised in Chico, Calif. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Lionel Forest and Bertrand Forest, and a sister, Helenette Forest. She is survived by her three sons, Wayne J. Smith and his wife Carol (Keyt), of Newtown, Conn., Bruce C. Smith and his wife Elaine (Smith), of Orlando, Fla., and Leonard A. Smith and his wife, Olga (Hernandez), of Clarksburg, Md.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
