    3. Obituaries Published: 11/07/04 Grace Strack Champlain - Grace Strack, 77, of 79 Dubois Rd., Champlain, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at the CVPH Hospital in Plattsburgh. She was born in Plattsburgh on Sept. 3, 1927, the daughter of Joseph and Alexina Coulombe. Grace was a lifelong resident of Champlain and was active in many community organizations, including a troop leader for the Girl Scouts, the Champlain Fire Department Auxiliary and Clinton County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, serving many years on the Board of Directors. She was past president of the Champlain American Legion Auxiliary Post 767 and past president of the Clinton County American Legion Auxiliary. Grace was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; enjoyed many years as a volunteer librarian at St. Mary's Academy, taught religion classes and was active in organizing the annual St. Mary's Bazaar, chairing the first bazaar committee. She was an avid bingo player, bowler and well known as a cashier at the local Grand Union as well as a world traveler, participating in many locally organized tours. Her greatest joy came from being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and taking care of their every need. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Al; two daughters, Betty Trombley of Champlain and Dolores Grimsey and husband Robert of Leduc, Alberta, Canada; one son, Kevin and wife Nicky of Mooers; five grandchildren, Chris Trombley and wife Tammy of Champlain, Karen Gurzenda and husband Tom of Champlain, Nichole Favreau and husband Michael of Mooers, Rachel Strack and fiancé Jason Fresn of Mooers Forks and Joshua Strack of Rouses Point; and great - grandchildren Katie and Caleb Trombley of Champlain. Her parents; and one brother, Lester Coulombe, predeceased her. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 7th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, Nov. 8th, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A reception in her honor will be held at the American Legion in Champlain following burial services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the FitzPatrick Cancer Center, 212 Cornelia St., Plattsburgh, NY 12901 or Champlain EMS Inc., PO Box 837, Champlain, NY 12919.
