    3. MICHAEL A. LABRIOLE - Warwick 01:00 AM EST on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 MICHAEL A. LABRIOLE, 87, of Trent Avenue, a retired postal worker and school custodian, died yesterday at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center of Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, in Providence. He was the husband of the late Florence K. (Laramee) Labriole, and the longtime companion of Velma Brown of Smithfield. Born in the Thornton section of Johnston, a son of the late Michael and Mary (Imondi) Labriole, he had lived in Warwick since 1948. Mr. Labriole had worked for the U.S. Postal Service, as a letter carrier in Providence, for 30 years before retiring in 1977. He also had worked for the Warwick School Department, as a custodian at the John Greene School, for 9 years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. An Army veteran of World War II, he participated in the D-Day Invasion, and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Mr. Labriole was a past commander of the Italian-American War Veterans, Warwick Post, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Folcarelli Chapter 1, in Providence, and a member of the American Legion, Howard Rodgers Post 25, in Pawtucket. Mr. Labriole had played Santa Claus at the holidays for the children at the former Lakeside Children's Home, in Warwick. He was a member of the Tuesday Morning Bowling & Bocce League, at the Hope Senior Center. Besides his companion, he leaves a daughter, Florence A. Brown of Warwick; a son, Michael A. Labriole Jr. of Cranston; a brother, John Labriole, and two sisters, Bessie DiGennaro and Anna Greene, all of Warwick; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Ralph, Carmine and Frank Labriole, Theresa Baldwin and Mary DiGennaro. The funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the Peter J. Barrett Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Benedict Church, 135 Beach Ave. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
