Thursday, November 18, 2004 Raymond A. 'Freeman' Gagne 1926-2004 LITCHFIELD -- Raymond A. "Freeman" Gagne, 78, of Hallowell Road died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at St. Marguerite d'Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. He was born in Augusta on March 4, 1926, the son of Lee and Mamie (Poulin) Gagne. He served on cruisers with the Navy during World War II and the Korean War, and was discharged in 1953. He had worked for almost 37 years at the Gardiner paper mill, retiring in 1990. Freeman loved to hunt and fish and was a former member of Le Club Calumet and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and attended St. Leo's Catholic Church in Litchfield. He is survived by three sons, David Gagne of Litchfield, Daniel Gagne and his wife, Melissa, of Litchfield and Douglas Gagne and his wife, Shawn, of Sabattus; two daughters, Darcie Oakes and her husband, Dale, of West Gardiner, and Dawna Harris of Winthrop; his grandchildren, Jamie Gagne, Amanda Hahn and her husband, Tim, Danica Gagne, Nicole Oakes, Michelle Oakes, Chad Oakes, David Cameron, Dana Cameron, Ryan Cameron, Christopher Harris, Cory Harris, Kendra Gagne, Ronald Jones, Erin Jones and Catherine Petite; great-grandchildren Noah Gagne, Kirstin Hahn and Kaitlyn Hahn; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Visiting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
