RENE C. MONAST - Fall River 01:00 AM EST on Friday, November 5, 2004 RENE C. MONAST, 85, of Monarch Street, a former appliance store owner, died Wednesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Doris Monast. They had been married for 61 years. A lifelong resident of Fall River, he was the son of the late Calixte and Dorina (Lapointe) Monast. Mr. Monast had been the owner and operator of the former Monarch Appliance for over 50 years before retiring. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at Notre Dame Parish and the Knights of Columbus, and a former president of the Notre Dame Golf League. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Dennis Monast of Berkley, Mass.; five sisters, Irene Levesque of Fall River, Lorraine Marceau of Westport, Julie Smith and Claire Carpenter, both in Florida, and Terri Arntz in Virginia; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Susan Booth, and brother of the late Walter, Roland, Richard and Rudolph Monast, Oretta Camara, Jeannette Cyr and Dorice Reeves. The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from Auclair Funeral Home, 690 South Main St., with a funeral Mass at 10 in Notre Dame Church, Eastern Avenue. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
