Joseph A.W. Benoit CENTER OSSIPEE, N.H. - Joseph A.W. Benoit, 80, a Lowell native and longtime resident of Dracut, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, at Hugging Hospital, in Wolfeboro, N.H. He was born in Lowell on April 16, 1924, and lived in Dracut for most of his life. He attended local schools and graduated from the Lowell trade schools. Mr. Benoit served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion. Before retiring in 1984, Mr. Benoit was a corrections officer at MCI, Concord. He is survived by a son, Frances Benoit of Dracut; two grandsons, Thomas Halligan of California and Michael Halligan of Enfield, N.H.; and a sister, Ella Parent of Pelham, N.H. He was also the father of the late Cherly Halligan, and grandfather of the late Lisa C. Benoit. Funeral services were private. Published in the Lowell Sun on 11/23/2004. Guest Book . Flowers
