John L. Guenette FITCHBURG -- John L. Guenette, 55, of Fitchburg, died Thursday, Nov. 18, at UMass Memorial Center in Worcester after an illness. He was born in Fitchburg on Nov. 20, 1948, the son of Rose R. (Provencher) Guenette and the late J. Andre Guenette Sr. of Fitchburg and had resided in Fitchburg his entire life. He was a 1966 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School. He was also a graduate of St. Joseph's College in Stuart, Fla., where he was president of his class. While at St. Bernard's High School he was a standout in track. Mr. Guenette was a self-employed carpenter in the Fitchburg area for many years. He was a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 99 in Fitchburg. He was involved with the former Brain Injured Center in Fitchburg. He was also an avid sportsman. Mr. Guenette is survived by his mother of Fitchburg; one son, John L. Guenette II of Fitchburg; three brothers and two sisters-in-laws, the Rev. J. Andre Guenette of Bonita Springs, Fla., Peter J. Guenette and Beth Guenette of Fitchburg, and James P. Guenette and Karen Guenette of Leominster; one sister and brother-in-law, Anne Louise Stephens and Bernard Stephens of Fitchburg; one grandchild, Jonathon Guenette; his wife, Sharon Guenette; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jill Lynn Guenette, of Fitchburg. GUENETTE -- On Nov. 18, John L. Guenette, 55, of Fitchburg. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 20, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 46 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. There are no calling hours.
