Predeceased by his parents Cyril & Evangeline Leroux, and brothers Johnny, Joseph, and Evert, sister Mary. M. Ryan. Born in Winterville, Maine she was the daughter of Albert and Exire (Soucy) Emond. She is survived by the members of her Religious Congregation; a sister Albertine DeCou; a sister-in-law Margaret Emond and several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. The Rite of Christian Burial was celebrated in the Mother House Chapel on June 13, followed by burial in the Congregation’s cemetery. Sister Frances was Director of Nursing at Saint Francis Home in Worcester for 25 years before retiring to the Mother House. She was also very active in the Pro-Life movement for many years. Fortier, 86, Willow Lane, died Aug. 21, 2005 at the Grafton County Nursing Home following a period of failing health. He was born in Haverhill on Jan. 5, 1919, a son of Cyrille and Mary (Derosia) Fortier and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Haverhill Academy Class of 1937. He served as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army during World War II with Battery B 210th AAA (AW) Battalion from Jan. 10, 1941 to May 28, 1945. From 1947 to 1967 he worked for the First National Store in North Haverhill. Later he worked as a leather cutter at Connors Hoffman Shoes in Littleton and Sport Weld in Woodsville. From 1970 to 1979 he was the supervisor of maintenance at the Grafton County Complex in North Haverhill then he went to work for Roy Refrigeration of Bath until he retired in 1990. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Woodsville and a 57-year member of VFW Post 5245 of North Haverhill. He taught chair caning to 4-H children in Woodsville and was an avid camper and fisherman. He married Ida Moulton on April 21, 1947 in Woodsville. Survivors include his wife Ida (Moulton) Fortier of North Haverhill; a daughter, Maxine Donovan of Gilford; three grandchildren; five great grandsons and one great-great granddaughter; a sister Blanche Kelly of New Britain, Conn.; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Born Gertrude Edith Laffan, in Manville, she was the daughter of the late James and Yvonne (Dupre) Laffan. She entered the Sisters of Mercy on February 2, 1941 and professed her vows on August 16, 1943. Sister began her ministry at St. Vincent's Home, Fall River, and then was assigned to St. Mary Academy-Bay View to assist in the Kindergarten. She remained there 24 years until her retirement in 1985. In addition to her religious family, the Sisters of Mercy, she leaves her sisters, Rita Morin of Manville and Claire Plasse-Lapointe of Woonsocket. She was the sister of the late Harriet Lamarre and Louise Sylvester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in Mount St. Rita Chapel, 15 Sumner Brown Rd., Cumberland.
