BARRETT: Paul, 77 Monday November 1, 2004 BARRETT: Paul, of Concord, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center at the age of 77. He was born in St. Johnsbury on April 10, 1927, the son of Philemon and Antoinette (Toussaint) Barrett. Mr. Barrett served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He had worked at Fairbanks Scales for over 40 years as an engineer. Paul had many interests including the Vermont National Guard, Vermont State Guard and Civil Air Patrol; deputy sheriff for both Essex and Caledonia counties, and a member of the Concord FAST Squad (EMT). Other activities included the Knights of Columbus, scuba diving, amateur radio and flying as a former pilot. He loved hunting and most of all spending time with family and friends at camp on Miles Pond. On Sept. 25, 1949, he married Bev (Lillicrap) who survives him currently at the St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab Center. Other survivors include a son, Maj. Thomas Jay Barrett of Hampton, Va.; a daughter, Lynn (Barrett) and her husband Greg Jenne of Woodbury, N.J.; four grandchildren, Christopher, Laura, Matthew and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers; two sisters; and a grandson, Benjamin Jenne. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. 11/01/2004EDNA L. CHURCH ST. ALBANS - - Mrs. Edna L. Church, 98, a longtime area resident passed away early Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in Haven Health Center following a long illness. She was born in Chicopee Falls, Mass., May 15, 1906, the daughter of the late Edmond A. and Clara (Dompierre) Ladue. On Sept. 7, 1937, she married Wayne G. Church who predeceased her on May 18, 1983. Edna was a former resident of Alburg Springs, and has resided in St. Albans, for the past 25 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, and formerly was a volunteer at Verdelle Village. She was also a member of the Watchful Circle of the King's Daughters, and the Friends of St. Albans Free Library. Survivors include a special niece and goddaughter, Edna "Polly" Ladue, nieces, Noreen Corrigan, Eleanor Senesac, and Catherine Stahl, and nephews, John Bushey, Lawrence Ladue, and Harold Ladue. Besides her husband Wayne, she was predeceased by a sister, Loretta Bushey, and five brothers, Donald, Lawrence, Harold, Robert, and Eugene. She was born April 20, 1926, in Fairfield, the daughter of Arthur J. and Helen (Tourangeau) Bessette. Lucille enjoyed sewing, gardening, her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Otto V. Orvis, on June 1, 1990. 10/30/2004DANIEL JAMES MARTELL PHILADELPHIA, Pa./ BURLINGTON - Daniel James Martell, 42, of Aurora, Colo., passed away Oct. 26, 2004, in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Born Nov 14, 1961, Daniel was a lifelong resident of Burlington and Winooski, before recently moving to Colorado. Daniel was the loving son of Helen Martell of Southampton, Pa., formerly of Burlington, and the late Earl P. Martell. Daniel graduated from Rice Memorial High School in 1980, and was a loyal employee of IBM in Essex Junction for 22 years. He enjoyed woodworking, music, going to concerts, playing drums, and being in a band. He was also an avid photographer, often giving his beautiful photographs as gifts. Some of his work is currently on exhibit in Colorado. Daniel will always be remembered for his kind, gracious, unassuming, humble nature. He asked for nothing, gave only of himself, and never complained in spite of the numerous challenges life presented him. He quietly made his way into our hearts reminding us all of what mattered most in life. He will be dearly missed. In addition to his devoted mother, Helen, Daniel is survived by his loving sister, Cynthia Flowers and her husband Robert of Huntingdon Valley, Pa.; two nephews, Gregory Flowers of Arlington, Va., and Michael Flowers of Brighton, Mass. He is also survived by his uncle, Clement Alarie of Winooski; many cousins; and his loving companion, Gayle Downen of Aurora. Elizabeth was born Oct. 11, 1911, in Milton, the daughter of Rector and Anne (Robar) Lapan. She married Kenneth Adams on Nov. 26, 1933. They were married for over 64 years when Ken died in 1998. Elizabeth was a member and lector at St. Ann Catholic Church in Milton. She was a past master of the Milton Grange 522 and the Deputy of Junior Grange Pomona, for the State Grange. She previously was employed by Nicholson and Ryan Jewelers and W.T. Grants. Mrs. Lachance was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, where she was a longtime Eucharistic minister; a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society and Cushnoc Senior Citizens; and a former member of St. Mary's Guild. She enjoyed sewing, reading and her grandchildren. Mrs. Lachance was predeceased by two brothers, Alcide and Willie Pepin; and four sisters, Gloria Rouillard, Annie Dube, Lucienne Michaud and Cecile Doyon. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wilfred J. Lachance of Manchester; two sons, Norman R. Lachance and his wife, Brenda, of Manchester and Richard P. Wolcott and her husband, Edward, of Providence, Utah; six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Lambert was a lifelong resident of Waterville and loved her family home at 26 Pleasant St. She graduated from Mount Merici Academy in 1935 and the Sisters' Hospital School of Nursing in 1939. She loved her years as a registered nurse at the Seaton Hospital and retired in 1982. She also has been a member for 75 years with the American Legion Auxiliary No. 5 in Waterville. Marcelle was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Oakley C. Lamber. She was also predeceased by her sister, Anita Bria and her brother-in-law, Albert Bria. She is survived by four daughters, Lorraine Richards and her husband, Joe, of Ludlow, Mass., Theresa Skira and her husband, Daniel, of Rockport, Angela McGrath of Raynham, Mass., and Margaret Cote and her husband, Tom, of Manchester. Monday, November 1, 2004 Lina Desloges Huot, 92 BIDDEFORD - Lina Desloges Huot, 92, of Dupont Avenue, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004 at the Renaissance following a long illness. She was born Sept. 22, 1912 in Ham Nord, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Sinai and Delina Roy Sevigny and was educated in Biddeford schools. She married Alexandre Desloges on June 17, 1930 and moved with her family to Biddeford on June 13, 1933. She worked for seven years at Pepperell Mfg. Co., and for 20 years at Webber Hospital and Southern Maine Medical Center, retiring in 1976. In 1979, she resumed her service to Southern Maine Medical Center as a volunteer. Lina was a member of St. Andre's Group Homes Auxiliary and St. Andre's Church. She enjoyed knitting and playing cards. She was predeceased by her first husband, Alexandre Desloges in 1971, and by her second husband, Charles Huot in 1978. Surviving are a son, Marcel Delorge of Saco; four daughters, Cecile Guay and her husband, Robert of Biddeford, Jeannine Belanger and her husband, Gerard of Biddeford, Claudette Guay and her husband, Raymond of Dayton, Rachel Guay and her husband, Maurice of Biddeford; a brother, Emile Sevigny of Robertsonville, Quebec, Canada; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a stepson, Lucien Huot; three stepdaughters, Therese Landry, Doris Dutremble, and Anita Rose of Saco. Emilyn Catlin Gaudreau, 87 SCARBOROUGH - Emilyn Catlin Gaudreau, 87, of Cape Elizabeth, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004 at Piper Shores, Scarborough. She was born in Ellsworth, June 23, 1917, a daughter of Byron W. Catlin Sr. and Hazel Holt Catlin. Mrs. Gaudreau retired as a registered nurse having worked private duty and for local nursing homes. Roland "Jack" Pellerin WILMINGTON - Roland "Jack" Pellerin, 70, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, died Saturday, Oct. 30, at Winchester Hospital in Winchester. He was the husband of Lorraine J. (Snow) Pellerin. He was born in Lawrence on Sept. 16, 1934, one of 13 children of the late Mathias J. and Isabel (Fiola) Pellerin. Mr. Pellerin worked as a painting contractor within Greater Wilmington for many years. He was an avid softball player and a longtime coach at the Wilmington Town Park. Mr. Pellerin belonged to the Tewksbury-Wilmington Lodge of Elks B.P.O.E. 2070, the Wilmington American Legion Post 136, the Disabled American Veterans, Tewksbury V.F.W. Post 8164 and the Greater Lowell War Veterans. Il etait natif de Cap-a-L'aigle. Il a fait ses etudes au College des Freres Maristes de La Malbaie, au Petit et au Grand Seminaire de Chicoutimi. Il fut ordonne pretre le 25 mars 1950 par Mgr Georges Melançon en la Cathedrale de Chicoutimi. Il celebra sa premiere messe a St-Raphaël de Cap-a-l'Aigle, le 26 mars 1950. Il fut vicaire de Saint-Georges de Jonquiere, de Saint-Prime et de La Malbaie; desservant de Saint-Philippe de Clermont; aumonier diocesain des Cercles Lacordaire et Sainte Jeanne D'Arc; aumonier des Vocations; cure de St-Louis de l'Ile-aux-Coudres et de Baie Saint-Paul; vicaire dominical a St-Charles Borromee de Charlesbourg. Le service religieux sera celebre le samedi 9 janvier a 11h par Mgr. Eugene Tremblay a l'eglise de La Malbaie. La depouille mortelle sera exposee au mem! e endroit en chapelle ardente où la famille recevra les condoleances a compter de 9h le meme jour. L'Abbe Duchesne etait le frere de feu Louis-Philippe (feu Sady Bilodeau), feu Marcelle, Jeanne (Paul Savard), feu Josephine (Leonce Desmeules), feu Sr Beatrice s.c.q., Laurent et Monique (Roger Morin). Il laisse egalement dans le deuil de nombreux neveux, nieces, cousins, cousines confreres et amis. Il était âgé de 81 ans et 3 mois. M. labbé Aldéi Duchesne est né à Saint-Félicien le 3 octobre 1922 de dame Marie-Louise Tremblay et de M. Edouard Duchesne. Il a fait ses études classiques au Petit Séminaire de Chicoutimi (1939-1947). Il a commencé ses études théologiques au Grand Séminaire de Montréal (1947-1948) et les a continuées au Grand Séminaire de Chicoutimi (1948-1951). Il a été ordonné prêtre dans la Cathédrale de Chicoutimi, le 1er avril 1951. Comme vicaire, il a exercé son ministère successivement à Normandin (1951-1954), Saint-Bruno (1955-1956), Saint-Edouard de Port-Alfred (1956-1957), Saint-Michel de Mistassini (vicaire, 1957-1959 puis desservant 1959-1961), Albanel (1961-1967), Saint-Antoine de Chicoutimi (1967-1968), Sainte-Anne de Chicoutimi-Nord (1969-1970). A titr! e de curé, il a été en charge de la pastorale à Petit-Saguenay (1970-1 973 et en même temps, responsable de la desserte de Saint-Isidore de Sagard, du diocèse de Québec (1973) puis curé à Notre-Dame dHébertville (1973-1985). Entre-temps, labbé Duchesne a accepté d'autres charges et dautres responsabilités telles que celles daumônier de la Maison provinciale des Frères de lInstruction chrétienne, à Dolbeau (1954-1955), aumônier des Cercles Lacordaire et Sainte-Jeanne dArc, secteur Dolbeau (1964-1966), étudiant à lInstitut de Catéchèse de lUniversité Laval, Québec (1968-1969), responsable de la Cathéchèse des adultes, secteur Chicoutimi-Nord (1969-1970). A la retraite, à partir de septembre 1985, il a résidé au presbytère de la paroisse Saint-Dominique de Jonquière où il a collaboré au ministère paroissial selon ses possibilités jusquà la fin de lannée 2003. A ce moment, il a élu domicile au presbytère de Notre-Dame-de-Fatima (Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix) où il est décédé. À Sillery, à la résidence des Missionnaires du Sacré-Coeur, le 9 septembre 2004, à lâge de 89 ans, est décédé le père Paul-Émile Drouin, m.s.c. Originaire de Saint-Zacharie de Beauce, il était le fils de feu Elzéard Drouin et de feu Philomène (Monique) Paradis. Après ses humanités, il fit profession religieuse en 1934 chez les Missionnaires du Sacré-Coeur, puis accédait au sacerdoce en 1941. Docteur en philosophie, il a consacré la plus grande partie de sa vie à lenseignement de cette discipline à Watertown (USA) et à lUniversité Laval. Il a aussi servi sa communauté en assumant des responsabilités telles que supérieur local, directeur des études et supérieur provincial. Dans sa vie de prêtre il a su donner une bonne place à la pastorale comme aumônier, confesseur et conseiller spirituel. Depuis une dizaine dannées il était retiré à linfirmerie de sa communauté à Sillery. Le père Drouin laisse dans le deuil les membres de sa communauté, pl! usieurs neveux et nièces ainsi que de nombreux ami(e)s. Il sera exposé au 2215, Marie-Victorin à Sillery, le dimanche 12 septembre de 14h à 17h et de 19h à 21h et lundi à partir de 9h. Les funérailles auront lieu au même endroit, le lundi 13 septembre à 10h30. Il sera inhumé au cimetière Belmont à Sainte-Foy avec les membres de sa communauté. Il était le fils de feu A.A. Drouin et de feue Louisa Bourgeois, le frère de feue Soeur Gisèle Drouin, a.s.v., de feu Conrad Drouin, de feu l'Honorable Henri Drouin, de feue Marguerite Drouin-Hardy et de feue Marthe Drouin-Viens. Il laisse dans le deuil sa soeur Thérèse Drouin (Mère Marie Pia o.s.b.), son demi-frère Wilfrid Poitras, sa belle-soeur Bernadette St-Laurent, son beau-frère Pierre Hardy et de nombreux cousins et cousines, neveux et nièces. Le Chanoine Arthur Drouin sera exposé à compter de 19 h à 22 h le samedi 28 février 2004, aux Maisons Funéraires Blais du 141, Principale Nord, à Amos, ainsi que le dimanche 29 février 2004 en chapelle ardente, à la Cathédrale d'Amos de 15 h 30 à 17 h et de 19 h à 22 h. Les funérailles auront lieu le lundi 1er mars 2004 à 14 h, en la Cathédrale Ste-Thérèse d'Amos, suivies de l'inhumation au cimetière du ! même endroit. Fidèle à sa foi, il a marqué notre vie.
