ETHIER, 88, formerly of School Street, pastor emeritus of St. Ambrose Church, died Friday in the St. Antoine Home, North Smithfield. Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Jean Baptiste and Edwardina (Rivard) Ethier, he had lived in Woonsocket and Lincoln for many years before moving to Pawtucket and later, North Smithfield. Father Ethier attended St. Bernard Seminary, in Rochester, N.Y., and was ordained on Feb. 24, 1945, at the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul, Providence. He had been asssistant pastor at St. Sebastian Church, Providence, and Our Lady of Victories Church, Woonsocket, and became pastor of St. Ambrose Church, in Albion, in 1968. He had served as pastor for 18 years, retiring as pastor emeritus in 1986, and had lived at Our Lady of Consolation rectory, Pawtucket, before moving to the St. Antoine Residence. Father Ethier attended Sacred Heart Academy, Woonsocket, and Assumption College, Worcester, Mass. He leaves three sisters, Jeannette Parmentier of Blackstone, Mass., Rita LeDoux of Woonsocket and Anita Choiniere of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a brother, Antonio Ethier of Woonsocket; and several nieces and nephews. he was the brother of the late Rose Cournoyer, Alice Brodeur, John B. Ethier Jr., and Paul and Wilfred Ethier. A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Avenue, Woonsocket. EDOUARD G. HEROUX - Central Falls 01:00 AM EDT on Sunday, October 31, 2004 EDOUARD G. HEROUX, 90, of Fales Street, a retired employee of the former Corning Glass Works, died Friday at home. He was the husband of Claire (Patenaude) Heroux. They had been married for 64 years. Born in Lowell, Mass., a son of the late Fortunat and Anysie (Rousseau) Heroux, he had lived in Central Falls for 77 years. Mr. Heroux had worked at Corning Glass Works for 20 years before retiring in 1978, and had previously been employed at the former Weybosset Textile, New England Transportation, and Pawtucket Spinning Ring. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church, and a member of its Senior Citizens Group and the St. Matthew Golden Agers. For 16 years he had been the president of the Notre Dame Men's Club, and the Notre Dame Seniors. He had been an altar server at Notre Dame Church for 10 years, and a volunteer at the church's annual bazaar for many years. Mr. Heroux was a former committee member of Boy Scout Troop 1 of Notre Dame. He had served in the National Guard Mounted Command, 103rd Field Artillery, 43rd Division. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Roger Heroux of Goleta, Calif., and Edmond Heroux of Pawtucket; a daughter, Lorraine Heroux of Central Falls; three brothers, Antonio and Leo Heroux, both of Central Falls, and Rodriques Heroux of Pawtucket; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Mortuary of L. Heroux & Son, 20 Ledge St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Notre Dame Church, Broad Street. RITA HUSTLER - Woonsocket 01:00 AM EST on Monday, November 1, 2004 RITA HUSTLER, 83, of Mendon Road, a retired assembler, died yesterday at Ballou Home for the Aged. She was the wife of the late John Hustler. Born in Woonsocket on June 10, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Donat and Cora (Richard) Tellier. She was employed as an assembler by the Univis Eye Glass and Frame Co. before retiring. She leaves a son, Thomas Hustler, a daughter, Donna Hustler, and a sister, Pauline Notarangelo, all of Woonsocket; and two grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Norman Tellier. LEO L. SOUCY - Lincoln 01:00 AM EST on Monday, November 1, 2004 LEO L. SOUCY, 74, of Camp Road, East Burke, Vt., formerly of Lincoln and Cumberland, a retired toolmaker, died yesterday at home. He was the husband of Noella (LaMontagne) Soucy. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 16. Born in Lincoln, a son of the late Laurent and Marie (Matthew) Soucy, he had lived in Lincoln and Cumberland most of his life before moving to Vermont in 2001. Mr. Soucy had been employed as a toolmaker at Northrup Corp. for 37 years, retiring in 1994. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, and a former member of the National Rifle Association. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Ronald and Robert Soucy, both in Vermont, and Raymond Soucy in California; four daughters, Donna Sidla of Cumberland, Denise Field of Franklin, Mass., Diane McMahon of Lincoln and Debra Dunbar in Vermont; four brothers, Gerard, Lawrence and Robert Soucy, all of Pawtucket, and Alcide Soucy of Lincoln; four sisters, Theresa Daigle in New York, Irene Soucy and Rita Dube, both of Providence, and Doria Pullano of Cumberland; and 12 grandchildren. Albina Katherine Belisle Albina Katherine Belisle 1918 - 2004 PALMER - Albina Katherine Belisle, 86, of Mt. Dumplin Road died Saturday at Palmer House Health Care Center. Born in the Bondsville section of Palmer, August 29, 1918, she was the daughter of the late David and Katherine (Moriarty) Belisle. She grew up in Bondsville and lived in W. Springfield for many years before returning to Palmer in 1994. She was a telephone operator for 30 years for the former New England Telephone & Telegraph, now Verizon, before retiring in 1983. Albina was a communicant of St. Anne's Church and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She will be deeply missed by her sister Katherine and her husband Lou Pelletier with whom she lived, along with her brother Frank Belisle of Davie, FL, and her nephew David Belisle of Annapolis, MD, who she cared for as a child. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers David, Gilbert, Donald and Robert Belisle, and two sisters Mary Belisle and Bernice Coache. Richard A. Godbout Richard A. Godbout CHICOPEE - Richard A. "Rit" Godbout, 49, of Chicopee was Called Home on Tuesday October 26, 2004. He began working for B G Mechanical Contractors in 1976 and was currently the President of the company. He was also the Executive Vice - President of the Pennsylvania Power and Light of New England, the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of the NEMCA and a member of the Board of Directors of the MCAC. He was born in Springfield on July 28, 1955 a beloved son of Doris M. (Boucher) Godbout of Chicopee and the late Daniel J. Godbout who was Called Home on December 10, 1999. He lived in the Brightwood section of Springfield for many years and graduated from Cathedral High School. He moved to Chicopee in 1976. He received his Associates Degree in Business and Mechanical Engineering from Springfield Technical Community College and Holyoke Community College. He was a communicant of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus in Chicopee. He enjoyed walking, reading and cross country skiing. Besides his beloved mother, he leaves his loving wife of 28 years, Carol J. (Lepine) Godbout. Shirley M. Doucette Shirley M. Doucette 1921 - 2004 WESTFIELD - Shirley M. (Ridgway) Doucette, 83, of Westfield, died Friday, October 29, 2004 at a local nursing home. She was born May 3, 1921 in Westfield, daughter of the late George H. and Vinetta (Brissette) Ridgway. Shirley worked in the Housekeeping Dept. at Noble Hospital for twenty years retiring in 1986, and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Westfield. She was an avid card player and enjoyed traveling. Shirley was a member of the Westfield Historical Society and the Friends of Grandmothers Garden. She was the widow of Peter P. Kuta, who died in 1945, in France, during WWII. Her second husband, Albert E. Doucette died in 1990. Shirley leaves her children, Thomas E. Doucette and Paula A. Patterson, both of Westfield. Joseph G. Therriault Joseph G. Therriault 1922 - 2004 SPRINGFIELD - Joseph G. Therriault was called home peacefully on October 26, 2004. Joseph was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. A man who could do anything with his hands. He eventually retired as an electrician to care for his late wife Katherine of 58 years of marriage. He was an accomplished golfer, shooting his most recent hole-in-one at the tender age of 79. The constant backstop of his life was music. Joe used his musical gifts playing 9 different instruments to set his beloved wife's gospel songs to music. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Joseph was predeceased by his wife Katherine Therriault in 1999. He is survived by one brother, Robert Therriault, two daughters, Gloria Roussel and her husband Nicholas (Joe's best buddy), Katherine Cummings and her husband Lee, one stepdaughter, Lena Cressotti, two stepsons, Ronald Coolbeth and his wife Alice, Gorden Coolbeth and his wife Yvonne. Marie Health Care Center, where she felt at home because of the care and compassion that was shown to her by the Sisters of St. Joseph and their staff, died Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the Holyoke Medical Center. Born in South Hadley, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Exoria (Gelineau) Dubuc. Dora attended South Hadley schools. She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in South Hadley and a member of the Rosary Alter Society. She will be remembered always for her love for butterflies, her fun filled personality, her loving heart and her close friendships shared in the Bingo community. She was in her 72nd year of her religious life. Sr. Mary Clementia served as supervisor of the dining room at St. Luke's Home in Springfield for twenty-three years. She was a "cottage mother" at Our Lady of Providence Children's Center (Brightside) in West Springfield for seven years. Sister then ministered as ward secretary at the Providence Hospital in Holyoke, MA from 1970 through her formal retirement in 1994, following which she volunteered as ward clerk in the Sisters of Providence Infirmary until 1999, when her own health required her admission to the infirmary. Sister is survived by her Sisters in Community; and her nieces, Sally Hall of Frederica, DE, and Sandra McCarver of Silva, MO; her brother-in-law, George Yates of Frederica, DE; and several cousins, including Doris Barnes of Colrain, MA. A lifelong resident, he was born here June 19, 1915, the son of the late Doricque and Emma (Nichols) Baillargeon. Alberta Goheen DOVER - Alberta G. Goheen, 85, widow of Frederick E. Goheen, of Bishop Gendron Apartments, formerly a long time resident of 6 Hawthorn Road, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at St. Ann Health Care Center following a brief illness. Born in Dover Feb. 21, 1919, she was the daughter of Joseph and Soufrenie (Bernard) Labbe. Mrs. Goheen was retired from Tiara Shoe and Miller Shoe where she worked as a stitcher. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church for many years and was very involved in various ministries of the church, including prayer groups and retreats. In addition she operated an in-home store offering many religious items. For many years she lovingly cared for many different family members who became ill and, since living at Bishop Gendron, she frequently visited the infirm. Family members include her daughter Kathleen M. Glover and her husband Jeffrey F. Glover of Center Harbor; two grandchildren, Shawn Tebbetts of Gilmanton Iron Works and Michelle Currier of Gilford; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, including Dottie Kay of Dover. Rosaire Toulouse KITTERY, Maine - Rosaire Auguste Toulouse, 85, of Shapleigh Road in Kittery, died on Oct. 26, 2004, at York Hospital. Rosaire Toulouse Born on Oct. 22, 1919, in Lac Megantic, P.Q, he was the son of Fortunat and Alice (Gendron) Toulouse. He moved as a young man with his family to the Jackman, Maine area, and graduated from Jackman High School with the Class of 1938. He furthered his education in Detroit, Mich., where he attended welding trade school. He entered the U.S. Army in September of 1942 and was trained in Ft. Belvoir, Va., and attended communications school in Athens, Ga. He was assigned to the 13th Armored Division in California. He received training as a combat engineer in Texas before being deployed to the European Theatre of War, just after D-Day. He remained in combat duty until the end of the war assigned to the 7th Armored Division and 3rd under Patton. He was also assigned to the 13th (Black Cats) for nearly seven months before he returned to the United States for recuperation. He was last assigned to Camp Beals in California and discharged in December of 1945. He became a citizen of the United States in 1943. In September of 1951, he met and married his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Helene (Manary) Toulouse, and together they had made their home and raised a family in the Seacoast area. He started his career as a boilermaker just before his entrance into the armed services in 1942. Upon his return he worked as an ironworker and then for more than 40 years as a boilermaker. He retired in October of 1981 from Local 29 after receiving his 40-year pin. He is survived by his loving family, his wife, Patricia; and their five children, a daughter, Laurie and her husband, Colo "Butch" Hayes, of South Berwick, sons, David and his wife, Anneliese, of Freeport, Alan and his wife, Gail, of East Wakefield, N.H., Gary and his wife, Kathleen, of Groose Ile, Mich., and Daniel and his wife, Jamie, of Gilbert, Ariz. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two nephews. ---- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at 11 a.m. at his church, St. Raphael Parish Church on Whipple Road in Kittery, with burial to follow in Orchard Grove Cemetery. A time of refreshment and sharing will follow graveside services in the church parish hall. Friends may visit with his family on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine 03904. Noella Demers SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Albina Noella Demers, 83, formerly of Berwick Road, South Berwick, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at the Riverside Rest Home in Dover, N.H. Born in Pittsfield, Mass., on Dec. 13, 1920, she was the daughter of Albert and Sophrine (Vallier) Archambault. She was a 50-year resident of South Berwick and later lived in Somersworth, N.H., prior to going to Riverside Rest Home in Dover about 10 years ago. She had worked as a stitcher for the South Berwick Shoe Co. and was a member of the South Berwick Senior Center and the Rollinsford American Legion Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Michael's Church and was a member of the choir. She was the widow of Richard Demers, who died in 1992, and was also predeceased by her son, Norman A. Demers, who died in 1997. She is survived by two granddaughters, Jennifer Knight of Rochester, N.H., Tracie Morey of Penacook, N.H.; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Claire Demers, of York; a sister, Rachel (Beaudet) Harley, of Somersworth, and nieces and nephews. ---- Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the McIntire-McCooey Funeral Home, 301 Main St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael' s Church, Young St. with the Rev. Andree Amelotte YORK, Maine - Andree C. Amelotte, 62, formerly of North Berwick, passed away peacefully, Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at the Harbor Home in York after a lifelong battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born April 6, 1942, in Marlboro, Mass., the daughter of Roland and Adrienne (Labelle) Amelotte. She graduated high school in 1959 from St. John the Baptist Academy in Syracuse, N.Y., and then from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa., as a registered nurse. She loved working and caring for children at St. Christopher's Hospital in Philadelphia. She was also a member of Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick. She is survived by her daughter, Tina (Carpenter) Cochran and husband, Alex Cochran, of Rochester, N.H.; her father, Roland Amelotte of Wells; three brothers, Richard of York, Pa., Gerald of Troy, and Michael of Lyman; three sisters, Suzanne Golden of Lakeland, Fla., Helene Ennis of Wells, and Anne Stuckey of Englewood, Fla.; and one precious granddaughter, Julia Reede Cochran. Despite enduring 36 years with MS, she was best known for her strong faith, generous spirit, and incredible kindness. Mark Rocheleau ROCHELEAU, Mark Mark Rocheleau, 49, of East Hartford, passed away Thursday (October 28, 2004). He was born May 16,1955 in Hartford the son of Leon and Georgette (LeBeau) Rocheleau of East Hartford. Mark was employed by the Iron Workers Union Local #15 and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New York Giants fan. Mark was a loving, devoted father to his four children Keith Rocheleau of Coventry, Tammie Cassone and her husband Frank of Coventry, Loni Rocheleau of Southington, and Gina Fagan of East Hartford. He is also survived by three sisters Michelle Haydasz and her husband Richard of Glastonbury, Donna Kabeary of Colchester, and Robin DeLong and her husband Bill of Round Rock, TX, along with his four grandchildren Brianna, Taylor, Baylee and Brandon. Funeral services will be Tuesday November 2, at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Paul's Church, Main St. Glastonbury. Gladys Castonguay CASTONGUAY, Gladys Gladys Castonguay, 74, of Forestville, wife of Hubert Castonguay, died Saturday, (October 30, 2004) at New Britain General Hospital. Gladys was born January 25, 1930, in Matawaska, ME, a daughter of the late Alsime and Alphonsine (Clavette) Cyr. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Glenn Castonguay, and Brian and Tina Castonguay all of Bristol; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Donald Cosman of Mt. Airy, MD, Patricia and Wayne Cyr, and Della and Ronnie Pelletier all of Plainville; three brothers, Edmond Cyr of Bangor, ME, Donald Cyr of Williamston, NJ, Roland Cyr of Westbrook, ME; three sisters, Lottie Bouchard of Caribou, ME, Bernadette Plourde of South Windsor, Delcia Hutchinson of Portland, ME; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Barbara Smith, sisters, Sadie Plourde, and Lorraine Dube, and brothers, Arman, Nathan, Herbert, and Bertrand Cyr. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 3, 10:30 a.m. from the O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Avenue, Forestville, to St. Matthew Church for a Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
