    3. Joseph L. "Paul" LaFlamme LaFLAMME, Joseph L. "Paul" Joseph L. "Paul" LaFlamme, 76, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, (October 30, 2004) at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his family. Paul was the beloved husband of Mary (Boblett) LaFlamme for 49 years. He loved his daughters and their spouses, Theresa and her husband, Joseph Wojtanowski of Windsor; Elizabeth Bonnie and her husband, Keith Sullivan of Hartford. Paul leaves his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Wojtanowski and his fiancee, Joy Hancock of Enfield, Christina Wojtanowski and her fiance, Matt Curtiss of Hartford; as well as his loyal pets; his dog, Nina; his cat, Whiskers and his parakeets, Petey and Weety who brought much joy and comfort to his life. Paul is also survived by his two sisters, Beatrice LaFlamme and Annette Harrington both of West Hartford; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Paul proudly served his country in the U.S Army Corps of Engineers in the Korean Conflict. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, Paul helped save many lives during the Great Flood of 1955, during which time he worked for the Mohawk Rug Company in Unionville as a spinner. Through the years, Paul worked at various jobs; as a foreman at the Olivetti Underwood Typewriter Company, a groundsman at WRCH Radio station, Farmington and as the groundskeeper for Connecticut Mutual from which he retired in 1986. Paul had a love for the land. He will be remembered for his immaculately landscaped yard, his gardens of plenty and rows of beautiful flowers. He had won 2nd place in the City Gardens Contest in Hartford sponsored by the Knox Parks Foundation for his garden-like yard. Paul was a self-taught man, having no formal education, yet able to repair anything mechanical and electrical, replicate any wooden structure and fix just about anything that needed to be fixed. It was not unusual for him to be helping out family or neighbors because he never thought of himself. He loved to sing and listen to music of all sorts. His artwork and sewing are found in many a household. Paul often spoke his mind, but his words of wisdom always rang true. He was a kind, generous soul who lived on his terms and truly was happier in his giving than receiving. His family and friends will live with the wonderful memories of his great sense of humor, his care and concern for others and that effervescent smile that could light up a room and cause his eyes to twinkle like the stars. He will be missed by all who knew him. Friends are invited to a 10 a.m. Memorial Service on Wednesday, November 3, at the Sheehan Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. Mrs. Caron was born the oldest of nine children in Guildhall, Vt., Nov. 10, 1917, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Hardy) Cantin. Virginia was raised in Guildhall where she attended local schools and was a graduate of Lancaster Academy. She married a mechanic/heavy equipment operator and had five children. Caron of Monroe, N.H., and Douglas E. Caron of West Springfield, Mass.; two daughters, Janet A. Seymour of Springfield, Mass., and Luanne M. Caron of Agawam, Mass.; three brothers, Harland Cantin of Guildhall, Vt., Leonard Cantin of East Haven, Vt., and Wallace Baker of Lancaster; a sister, Josephine Ball of Gilman, Vt.; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
