She was the wife of the late Joseph Ayres. Born in Bristol, a daughter of the late Antonio and Filomena (Motoiza) Goulart, she was a lifelong resident of Bristol. Mrs. Ayres was a sewing machine operator for the Standard Romper Co., Pawtucket, before retiring. She was a communicant of St Elizabeth Church, where she was a member of its choir and Holy Ghost Society. She leaves two sons, Bruce Ayres of Bristol and Kenneth Ayres of Newport; a daughter, Noreen Lamorca of Charlotte, N.C.; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Francis Ferreira, Anthony Goulart, Joe Goulart, Clara Mello, John Goulart and Mary Silire. The funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from William J. JODIE REBECCA (CARON) STRICKLAND - Bristol 01:00 AM EST on Thursday, November 4, 2004 JODIE REBECCA (CARON) STRICKLAND, 31, of 594 Whitmore Rd., Hurdle Mills, N.C., formerly of Bristol, a deputy sheriff, died Oct. 2 from injuries suffered in a car accident in Hurdle Mills. She was the wife of Paul Strickland. Born in Bristol, she was a daughter of Joseph Caron of Foster and Kathy Poissant of Assonet, Mass. She was an Orange County (N.C.) deputy sheriff, having worked as a school resource officer in Orange County. Before moving to Hurdle Mills, she had lived in Orange County and attended Greystone Baptist Church and was a member of the North Carolina Therapeutic Riding Center, the Carolina Gold Bugle Corps and the Hurdle Mills Fire Department. While living in Bristol, Mrs. Strickland was a member of the Generations Drum & Bugle Corps. She attended Bristol High School and graduated from Cranston High School. Besides her husband and parents, she leaves her paternal grandfather, Bertrand Caron of Sun City, Fla.; her paternal grandmother, Dorothy Caron of Fall River; her maternal grandmother, Leona Johnson of Assonet; and several aunts and uncles. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Hope Street.
LOUISE M. ROY - Attleboro 01:00 AM EST on Thursday, November 4, 2004 LOUISE M. ROY, 84, of County Street, an office clerk, died yesterday at home. She was the wife of Leo T. Roy. They had been married for 64 years. Born in Central Falls on Jan. 14, 1920, a daughter of the late Emile and Irene (Raymond) Hetu, she lived in Attleboro all her life. She had worked for many years as a clerk at Craft Inc., South Attleboro, a small metal-stamping company owned by her husband. Mrs. Roy was a 1938 graduate of Attleboro High School. An avid golfer, she was a 40-year member of the Pawtucket Country Club. She was a parishioner of St. Stephen's Church. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Raymond G. Roy of Halifax, Mass., and Armand E. Roy of Attleboro; two daughters, Claire J. Constantine of New Bedford and Janet E. Sutherland of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two sisters, Theresa Chartier in California and Ida Roy of Attleboro; and 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Normand, Ernest and Robert Hetu, Jeannette Gravel and Yvonne Mayhew. The funeral will be private.

Theresa A. Scibak Theresa A. Scibak WOONSOCKET, RI - Mrs. Theresa A. (Langlois) Scibak, 78, of Merida Ave., Woonsocket, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 in Landmark Medical Center. She was the wife of Walter Scibak. Born in Burriville, RI, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Laura (Rondeau) Langlois. Mrs. Scibak worked 21 years for Uniroyal Co. and 14 years for the Woonsocket School System, Lunch Program, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Joseph Senior Citizens and was second vice president and former Sunshine Lady. She is survived by two sons, State Rep. John W. Scibak of South Hadley, MA and Ronald M. Scibak of Cranston, RI; one sister, Jeannette Lemay of Woonsocket; and three grandchildren. She also was the sister of the late Gerard Langlois. Roger A. Lafleur Sr. Roger A. Lafleur, Sr. 1922 - 2004 CHICOPEE - Roger A. "Pop" Lafleur, Sr., 82, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Tuesday November 2, 2004 from his home with his loving family by his side. He was employed for 42 years and retired in 1983 as an engineer for the Savage Arms Company in Westfield. He was also a well known locksmith in the Chicopee area and was the owner and operator for 61 years of Lafleur's Locksmith Service. He was the locksmith for many years for the City of Chicopee and was known as the "Key Man" in the City. Former Mayor Joseph Chessey presented him with a "Key" to the City for his diligent and conscientious work. He was the locksmith for many years for the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus and received the "Honorary Member Award". He was a communicant of Saint Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and served his Parish for many years as their locksmith. He also worked for many other churches in the Chicopee area including Saint Patrick's and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. He was born in the Willimansett section of Chicopee on February 19, 1922 a beloved son of the late Joseph and Edourdiana (Duprat) Lafleur and moved to Aldenville in 1942. He was a member of the 25 year retiree club at the Savage Arms Company in Westfield and an honorary member of the Polish American Club in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Jeanne Chantal (Cloutier) Lafleur. They were married at Saint Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville on April 11, 1942. He also leaves his loving sons, Roger A. Lafleur, Jr. and his wife Marie of Aldenville and Albert A. Lafleur the owner of Discount Auto Glass and his wife Candice of South Hadley. His cherished grandchildren, Kurt Lafleur and his wife Michelle of Chicopee, Keith Lafleur of Chicopee, Kim Avey and her husband Normand of Chicopee, Albert Lafleur, Jr. and his wife Joni of Palm City, FL and Cheryl Hansen and her husband Steven of Somers, CT. He graduated from Holyoke Catholic High School and received an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Holyoke Community College. He previously lived for 18 years on Tolpa Circle in Chicopee and later moved back to Fairview in 2000 where he was a former longtime resident. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview. Eugene E. Boucher Eugene E. Boucher 1914 - 2004 WILBRAHAM - Eugene E. Boucher, 90, of Wilbraham, died on Wednesday in Life Care Center of Wilbraham. Born in Springfield, he lived most of his life there, moving to Wilbraham three years ago. Eugene was an optician and worked at Holyoke Opticians and John Boyd Opticians. Previously, he was a life insurance representative for John Hancock Co. and a mail carrier in Indian Orchard. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Ludlow. He was also a former longtime communicant of St. Jude Church (formerly St. Aloysius), Indian Orchard, where he served as a choir member for over 50 years, member and president of the League of Sacred Heart, Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher for over 40 years, confirmation class teacher, parish council member, chairman of the Catholic Stewardship Appeal, and was in charge of the Bingo program for many years. In 1989, Eugene received the Medallion Circle Award-Holy Name Man of the Year from the Diocese of Springfield. He graduated from Marist Brothers Academy in Poughkeepsie, NY. As a volunteer for the Indian Orchard Golden Agers, Eugene visited the sick and shut-ins. One of Eugene's greatest gifts - one he shared enthusiastically with all whose lives he touched - was his wonderful voice and heart of joy. At Life Care Ctr., his gift of song brought joy to the residents and staff. His voice will be sorely missed. Eugene was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Bernadette (Renaud) Boucher in 2002. Matthias Marquardt STRAFFORD - Matthias Marquardt of Strafford, 71, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, in Dover. He was born in Augusta, Maine on May 20, 1933, the only child of Matthias Marquardt, MD, and Ruby (Dennis) Marquardt. He graduated from Cony High School in Augusta and from the University of Maine in 1956, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked as a design engineer for many years with General Electric, Sanders Associates, and Honeywell. In 1974, he became a Realtor, specializing in land sales. He served on the Rochester Planning Board and the Strafford Regional Planning Board for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Seacoast Woodworkers, and NH Guild of Woodworkers. In years of good health, he enjoyed hiking, sail boat racing, skiing, woodworking, and photography. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary (Bailey) Marquardt; his daughter, Johanna Clark, her husband, Philip, of Virginia Beach and their son Evan, and a cousin, Ginger (Helen) Jackson of Laconia. - - - A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 34 South Main St., Rochester. Elsie S. Ducharme, 81 Homemaker; Red Sox fan; leaves family on Cape Cod RAYNHAM - Elsie S. (Craven) Ducharme, 81, died Tuesday at Morton Hospital after a five-month illness. She was the wife of Roland J. Ducharme Sr. Mrs. Ducharme was born and educated in Taunton and graduated from Taunton High School in 1941. She was a homemaker for most of her life but also worked at Paul A. Dever State School in Taunton. She retired in 1982. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Taunton, where she was a member of the women's guild. She loved spending time with her family and was an avid Red Sox fan. Elmer "Mer" Theriault THERIAULT, Elmer "Mer" Elmer "Mer" Theriault, 63, died Sunday, (October 31, 2004) in Soldier Pond, ME. He was the beloved husband of Dora (Albert) Theriault for 44 years. Born in New Canada, ME, the son of the late Josephel and Mary Jane (Rossignol) Theriault. Prior to his retirement in 1998 he was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 38 years. He was a member of the K of C, 4th Degree, Council # 15. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Steven Theriault and his wife Lynn of Southington, Brian Theriault of Plainville, Ricky Theriault and his wife Cindy of Plantsville, Michele Jasunas and her husband Michael of Southington; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Magan, Derek, Adam, Haley, Alison, Julia, Christopher and Jacob; a brother Roger Theriault of New Canada; five sisters, Rena Bouchard of Ft. Lorraine Y. Thibault 1923 - 2004 LEWISTON - Lorraine Yvette Thibault, 81, formerly of South Main Street, Auburn, died peacefully with her family by her side on Nov. 1, at Ouellette's Adult Foster Home, Rosedale Street. Throughout her childhood and early adult life, she enjoyed working by her father's side at the family's general store, Prospect Hill Market. She always had many joyous stories to share with her nieces and nephew about family life during the Depression years and World War II. After graduating from Edward Little High School class of 1940, she worked as deputy clerk for the city of Auburn, and was also employed in the Auburn City Manager's Office as a bookkeeper. Miss Thibault left employment with the city of Auburn and established the family restaurant business, Lorraine and Guilda's, that operated on South Main Street in Auburn for 14 years. Many New Auburn residents still talk of the then popular family eatery known for its home cooked meals and ice cream sodas. She always enjoyed treating her customers with festive holiday decorations and delicious holiday specials. Upon the sudden death of her father, Miss Thibault, decided to close the restaurant and accepted a position with the Sun Journal in the State News Department. In 1959, she left the Sun Journal to take a position as executive director of the L/A Chapter of the American Red Cross. She continued working in the capacity until 1966. During her last three years working for the Red Cross and taking care of her ailing mother, Miss Thibault completed a bachelor's of science degree in education conferred by the University of Maine, Orono. She then accepted a teaching position at Walton Junior High School in Auburn, teaching both French and English until her retirement. Miss Thibault was a member of St. Louis Parish. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: spending time with her family including her sister and brother-in-law, Guilda and Roland Desjardins and her nieces and nephew. Throughout her life, she made a point of visiting and bringing joy to elderly and ailing family members and friends. She especially enjoyed nature, music, gardening, antiques, home remodeling, and visits from her former students. She lived her entire life at the family home where she was born. She is survived by her devoted sister and brother-in-law, Guilda and Roland A. Desjardins; nieces, Louise and her husband, Paul Cote, and Denise Desjardins, all of Lewiston; nephew, Roger Desjardins; special friend, Paul O'Clair, of North Andover, Mass.; her pet cat, "Bummer," a feral cat that she rescued, now resides with the Roland Desjardins' family; she also leaves lifelong neighbor and devoted friend, Marilyn Wilkinson, former high school friend, Mrs. Alitha Blackmore and former friend and co-worker, Mrs. Irene Parker, all who visited and kept her company during her final months at Ouellette's Adult Foster Home. She was predeceased by her parents, Eugene and Yvonne (Sirois) Thibault. Miss Thibault will be sadly missed by family, friends, and former students. Barbara worked as a secretary for John Hancock Insurance. She also worked as a hostess for Dunkin Donuts in Concord for more than 20 years. She was a dedicated local sports fan and was an avid Red Sox fan. Barbara loved gardening and enjoyed frequent walks around Concord. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Concord and also attended St. John's Church in Concord. She was also a member of the Centennial Senior Center of Concord and was a member of the Concord Hospital Pulmonary Rehab Group. Barbara loved being with her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed visiting relatives in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by a brother, William Gerrior, in 1995; and one sister, Carol Marshall, in 1995. She is survived by three sons, Michael Butterfield of Lee, Daniel Butterfield of Temecula, Calif., and Richard Butterfield of Methuen, Mass.; two daughters, Deborah Ouimette of Candia and Kelly Lewis of Hopkinton; a brother, Richard Gerrior of Wakefield, Mass., 13 beloved grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Hazel Gebo ROUSES POINT - Hazel Gebo, 89, passed away peacefully at Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point, Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004. She was born Aug. 24, 1915, in Alburg, Vt., the daughter of Frank and Mary (Ratta) Turner. On Sept. 14, 1934, Hazel married Francis Gebo in St. Amadeus Church in Alburg. He predeceased her May 21, 1994. Her first son, Donald Gebo, born in 1939, died in 1940 in the hospital. She was a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a longtime parish member of St. Patrick's Church. She taught fifth grade religion for 21 years at St. Patrick's and received a beautiful plaque from Pope John Paul. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be deeply missed by all who were honored to know her. Hazel is survived by her daughter, Elaine James and husband Vernon of Alburg, Vt.; her son, Albert Gebo and wife Krystyna of Yonkers, N.Y.; two sisters, Rita Ratta and her husband Donald of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Marie Agnew and her husband Alfred Agnew of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Helene Turner of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; and a brother-in-law, Ray Jalbert and his wife Anita of Fiskdale, Mass. Hazel is also survived by grandchildren, Karen Aulis and her husband David of Alburg, Vt., Keith Mumly of Westport, N.Y., Chris James and his wife Jill of Champlain, N.Y., Robert Gebo and Bryan Gebo; great-grandchildren, Rachel and Adam Paquette and Jordan and Quinn Mumly, Samantha Lockerby and Lucas James; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, George Turner of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Donald Turner of Coopersville, N.Y., and Floyd Turner of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; a sister, Altha Jalbert of Fiskdale, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Rita Turner of Coopersville, N.Y.; and two nephews, Donnie Ratta and Gary Agnew. There will be no calling hours. Rev. Clyde Lewis will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. David E. Fayette Smithville, Tenn. - David E. Fayette, 58, of Smithville, Tenn., died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at the Nashville Baptist Hospital after an extended illness. He was the owner of Dave's Alignment Shop in Smithville. He was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses. He is survived by his wife, Linda Fayette, of Smithville; three children, Paul David Fayette, Matthew David Fayette and Tamara Lynn Paulsen, all of Smithville; three grandchildren, Zaxtin Fayette, Celebra Brooke Fayette and Dustin Tyler Hutchins; one brother, Norman Fayette of New York; five sisters, Nancy Lamar, Carol Kipp, Brenda Behan, Judy Bombard and Connie Consetta Dashnaw, all of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Howard and Beatrice Katherine (Tamer) Fayette. Visitation will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Smithville on Friday from 6 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7 p.m., officiated by Kenneth Cabral. Veronica H. Jette Plattsburgh - Veronica H. Jette, 82, of Plattsburgh, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Riverview on June 15, 1922, the daughter of Harry and Lillian (Charbonneau) Gilmet. She graduated from Sallaz Academy in 1939, attended the Plattsburgh Business Institute and completed business courses at the College of St. Rose in Albany. She owned and operated Ronnie's Michigans in West Plattsburgh for over 27 years until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville and was a former parish trustee. She was also a former member of the St. Alexander's Altar-Rosary Society and the Dannemora Catholic Daughters of the Americas, American Legion Post 1619 Ladies Auxiliary, the Ladies of St. Joseph, the Associates of the Sacred Heart and the Our Lady of the Adirondacks House of Prayer in Ellenburg. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Vickie Jette of Morrisonville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane Marie and John Spassoff of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jacqueline Kelly of Malone; a brother, Francis Gilmet of Redford; a sister, Lita Vann of Redford; eight grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Bill Jette, whom she married Dec. 23, 1943, died on Sept. 11, 1961; and a son, Gerard Jette, died on May 25, 1986. Two brothers, Antoine and Lawrence Gilmet; and three sisters, Theresa Brewer, Rita Lehane and Rose Deno, also died earlier. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the O' Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday from St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. William James Penner Plattsburgh - William James Penner, 69, of Bell Road, Plattsburgh, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at his home. He was born in Taftville, Conn., Sept. 16, 1935, the son of William and Sara Marie (Hiebert) Penner. Mr. Penner was a graduate of Bethel College in North Newton, Kan., and received his doctorate from the University of Connecticut. He was a professor at Plattsburgh State University. He has battled failing health for some time and is now at peace. He is survived by a sister, Amy Irene (Penner) Stroud, of Brunswick, Maine. Arrangements are by the Hamilton Funeral Home in Peru.
