L'abbé Camille Lavoie est né à Saint-Fidèle de Charlevoix le 5 janvier 1931, de Mme Éliane Jean et de M. Hercule Lavoie. Il a fait ses études classiques en partie au Séminaire du Sacré-Cœur de Saint-Victor de Beauce (1947-1950) et en partie au Petit Séminaire de Chicoutimi (1950-1955). Au terme de ses études théologiques au Séminaire universitaire Saint-Paul d'Ottawa (1955-1959), il a été ordonné prêtre dans la cathédrale de Chicoutimi le 23 mai 1959 par Mgr Marius Paré, évêque auxiliaire à Chicoutimi. Après deux mois de ministère comme vicaire à Saint-Gédéon (juin-juillet 1959), il doit s'astreindre à un congé de maladie (1959-1960). Puis, il retourne dans le ministère à titre de vicaire successivement dans les paroisses de Saint-Michel de Mistassini (1960-1968), Notre-Dame de Fatima de Jonquière (1969-1977) et Saint-Alphonse de Bagotville (1977-1983). Il continue ensuite à se dévouer dans le ministère comme curé de Saint-Méthode au Lac-Saint-Jean (fin 1983-début 1993). Son état de santé l'obligeant à prendre sa retraite, il élit d'abord domicile au Monastère des religieuses Augustines de Dolbeau (février-octobre 1993) puis jusqu'à son décès, à la Résidence Mgr Paré, Maison mère des Soeurs Antoniennes de Marie, au 927, rue Jacques-Cartier Est à Chicoutimi. Né à Jonquière le 20 mai 1929, il fit ses études classiques au Séminaire de Chicoutimi et sa théologie au Grand Séminaire de Nicolet et de Montréal. Il fut ordonné prêtre à Jonquière par Mgr Marius Paré, le 28 mai 1961. De 1961 à 1965, il fut vicaire à la Cathédrale (SaintJean-sur-Richelieu), puis à Notre-Dame-deFatima (Longueuil) jusqu'en 1967. En 1968, il fut responsable du Service diocésain de la catéchèse aux adultes du diocèse de SaintJean-Longueuil. Après une année en Afrique (1971-1972) pour l'UNESCO, il fut curé à la paroisse Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde (Longueuil). Il occupa ce poste jusqu'en 1985. Il fut par la suite curé de la paroisse SaintAnastase (Greenfield Park) jusqu'au moment de sa retraite, en décembre 1995. Tout en terminant ses études théologiques au Grand Séminaire de Chicoutimi (février-juin 1949), il a fait fonction d'adjoint de l'aumônier à l'école Saint-Michel de Chicoutimi. A titre de vicaire coopérateur, il a exercé son ministère successivement dans les paroisses de Saint-Cyrille de Normandin (juin-août 1949), Saint-Alphonse de Bagotville (1949-1960), Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf de Roberval (1960-1962) et Saint-Joachim de Chicoutimi (1962-1967). Comme curé et toujours en accord avec ses supérieurs et les fidèles concernés, il a poursuivi son ministère dans une seule paroisse, Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire, mais dans une fidélité et une continuité notables, soit de février 1967 à septembre 1995, alors qu'il prend sa retraite chez les siens dans sa paroisse natale de Baie St-Paul jusqu'à aujourd'hui. She was the wife of Edgar A. Desilets; they had been married for 60 years. Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Adelard and Marie (Pontriand) Tellier, she had lived in the city for most of her life. Mrs. Desilets had been a volunteer coordinator at the Woonsocket Health Center for many years. She was a communicant of All Saints Church, a former communicant of St. Ann Church, and a past treasurer of the ISECT for Women Club. She enjoyed citizens-band radio. Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Theresa Deslauriers and Pauline Geraldo, both of Woonsocket; three sons, Roger and Paul Desilets, both of Woonsocket, and Richard Desilets of North Smithfield; a brother, Leo Tellier, and a sister, Lucille DeLorme, both of Woonsocket; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Born in North Kingstown, a son of the late Hector and Mary (Moon) Lafreniere, he had lived in the town all his life. Mr. Lafreniere had been a painter with the Paul Arnold Co. for 38 years before retiring in 1984. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Lafreniere was a communicant and collector at St. Bernard Church. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Bernard J. and Charles H. Lafreniere, a daughter, Donna M. Lafreniere, a brother, John Lafreniere, and a sister, Alice Masi, all of North Kingstown; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was a brother of the late Joseph Lafreniere, Rita Haduk, Emma Albee and Mary Hassell. Jeannette Thebodo Jeannette Thebodo 1915 - 2004 CHICOPEE - Jeannette (Desroches) Thebodo, 89, of Agawam, died Tuesday, November 9, 2004 in Mercy Medical Center. She was born March 15, 1915 in Chicopee, daughter of the late Joseph and Rosa (Lafond) Desroches, and attended local schools in Chicopee. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post 353 in Willimansett. Jeannette enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her children, and traveling. She leaves her husband of sixty-four years, Francis C. Thebodo; and her children, Jeanne L. Allen and her husband James of Westfield, and Lorraine J. Duprey and her husband Eugene of Chicopee. She also leaves three grandchildren, James and Timothy Allen of Westfield, and Kevin Duprey of West Hartford, CT; and four great-grandchildren, Shawn and Rebecca Allen, and Elliott and Ava Duprey. Edward L. Mercure Edward L. Mercure 1930 - 2004 CHICOPEE - Edward L. "Ed" Mercure, 74, of the Fairview section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Monday November 8, 2004. He was employed for 39 years as a master machinist for the Hamilton Standard Company in Windsor Locks, Connecticut and retired in 1992. He was born in Ludlow on November 6, 1930 a beloved son of the late George A. and Rose Bertha (Boucher) Mercure and moved to Chicopee in 1965. He served his country during the Korean War with the 9th Infantry Division and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed a good bowling game. He leaves his beloved wife of 50 years, Lorraine D. (Cloutier) Mercure. They were married at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett on September 4, 1954. He also leaves his loving children, Gary E. Mercure and his wife Cathleen of Enfield, CT, Glenn M. Mercure and his wife Barbara of Birchwood, TN and Lisa M. Mercure of Chicopee. She was a lifelong resident of South Hadley and the daughter of the late John and Minnie (Pfeiffer) Charron. Elizabeth had worked in food service at Mt. Holyoke College. Elizabeth was a lifelong communicant of St. Patrick Church, South Hadley and with her husband gave support to many of its activities. She loved her family, her home and was always cheerful, kind and generous to everyone she knew or met. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Howard F. Cox, in 1997. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Lemek and her husband Ronald of Ellington, CT; her son, Howard Cox and his wife Linda of Bokeelia, FL, and her son John Cox and his wife Kerry of Monson. LAVIOLETTE, Armand, eudiste (1932-2004) - 1959 (Armand + Ida Levesque) Paru le 2004/03/12 dans La Presse LAVIOLETTE, Armand (prêtre-eudiste) À l'hôpital Fleury de Montréal, le 10 mars 2004, à l'âge de 71 ans, est décédé le père Armand Laviolette, fils de feu M. William Laviolette et de feu dame Ida Levesque. Natif de Charlo, Nouveau-Brunswick, il a été ordonné prêtre chez les Eudistes en 1959. Le père Laviolette a consacré trente ans de sa vie dans le secteur de l'éducation: au Cardinal Dougherty High School, à Buffalo, de 1961 à 1968; au Collège Jean-Eudes, à Montréal, de 1968 à 1990. Il a exercé la fonction de directeur des services financiers du collège. Il a assumé à plusieurs reprises la fonction d'économe dans sa communauté. Avec une équipe de confrères, il a collaboré au ministère à la paroisse St-Bonaventure, à Montréal. Il a aussi travaillé à l'informatisation des Oeuvres de Saint-Jean Eudes et de plusieurs études qui s'y arattachent. LAVIGNE, Henri, abbé (1927-2003) – 1953 (+) Né le 12 août 1927, à Coteau-Station, il y a fait ses études primaires, puis ses études classiques à Salaberry-de-Valleyfield et ses études théologiques au Grand Séminaire de Montréal. Ordonné le 7 juin 1953, il assuma la tâche de vicaire à Sainte-Rose-de-Lima (1953-54), Saint-Malachie (1954-61), Saint-Eugène (1962-64), Saint-Joseph de Huntingdon (1964-66), Saint-Paul Apôtre (1966-67), Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus (1967-69), Saint-Timothée (1969-73). De 1973 à 1985, il fut curé à Sainte-Barbe, puis de 1985 à 1996, curé à Saint-Polycarpe. Depuis 1998, il était desservant à Très-Saint-Sacrement de Howick. Outre sa famille diocésaine, il laisse dans le deuil son frère Georges et ses sœurs Denise, Lucette et Pauline, ses beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, neveux et nièces, parents et amis. Les funérailles ont eu lieu le vendredi, 15 août à 11 heures en l'église Saint-Médard de Les Coteaux (Coteau-Station) et l'inhumation se fera au cimetière de Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

Gérard, S.J. 1913 - 2001 À Lafontaine (Saint-Jérôme), le 30 janvier 2001, est décédé à l'âge de 87 ans, après 67 ans de vie religieuse, le P. Gérard Lavigne, s.j. Né à Beloeil le 31 juillet 1913, il fit ses études classiques au Collège SainteMarie et au Collège Brébeuf de Montréal. Il entra chez les Jésuites en 1934 et fut ordonné prêtre le 13 août 1944. Après ses années d'enseignement au Collège Garnier de Québec (46-51), il entreprit une longue carrière dans la pastorale: Chicoutimi (51-69), Rimouski (69-75), Montréal (75-79), curé de la mission Saint-Régis, Akwesasne (79-82; 94-95), aumônier à l'aéroport de Dorval (84-92). Sa santé chancelante l'avait obligé à se retirer à Saint-Jérôme en 1998. Outre ses confrères jésuites, il laisse dans le deuil ses soeurs Huguette (Léopold Nadeau), Francine (Marcel Cazavan), cousins et cousines, neveux et nièces, parents et amis. Il sera exposé à la Maison des Jésuites 175, boul des Hauteurs, Lafontaine le 2 février à partir de 14 h. Il y aura réunion de prières à 20 h. Les funérailles y seront célébrées le lendemain, 3 février à 14 h. Parents et amis sont priés d'y assister sans autre invitation. Au lieu de fleurs, des dons à l'Aide aux Jésuites canadiens (25, rue Jarry Ouest, Montréal, H2P 1S6) seraient appréciés.
