Originaire de St-Alexandre de Kamouraska. Il était le fils de feu André Lévesque et de feu Rose-Anna Bélanger. Après ses études classiques au collège de Ste-Anne-de-la-Pocatière (1942-1950), il est entré chez les Dominicains en 1950 et a été ordonné prêtre le 15 avril 1955. D'abord prédicateur de retraites (1957-1960), puis vicaire à la paroisse Notre-Dame-de-Grâce de Montréal (1960-1963), il fut ensuite responsable de la pastorale scolaire dans différentes institutions: collège St-Denis de Montréal (1963-1966), école secondaire Dandurant, polyvalente Jeanne-Mance (1968-1974) et collège Ste-Anne de Lachine (1975-1977). De 1979 à 1998, il assuma la responsabilité de la pastorale au foyer Jean-de-la-Lande. Il était chapelain de l'association canadienne de l'Ordre souverain et militaire de Malte. Le père Lévesque laisse dans le deuil, outre sa famille religieuse, sa soeur Pauline (Yvon Jodoin); ses frères Robert Germaine Dumais) et l'abbé Gilles, prêtre du diocèse de Montréal. Le père Gilles-Marius Lévesque sera exposé chez les Dominicains de St-Albert, 2715, chemin Côte-Ste-Catherine, Montréal, à partir de 14h, le jeudi 30 septembre. La messe des funérailles sera célébrée au même endroit le vendredi 1er octobre, à 11h, puis l'inhumation se fera à St-Hyacinthe dans le cimetière des Dominicains (2200, rue Girouard), à 15h. Il y aura veillée de prières le jeudi soir, 30 septembre, à 19h30.

(1903-2000) – 1928 (Georges + Laura Richard) Journal: LE SOLEIL 2000-1-18 LÉVESQUE Georges-Henri À Québec, le 15 janvier 2000, à l'âge de 96 ans et 11 mois, est décédé le Très Révérend Père Georges-Henri Lévesque, dominicain. Originaire de Roberval, il était le fils de feu Georges Lévesque et de feu Laura Richard. Après ses études au Petit Séminaire de Chicoutimi, il est entré chez les Dominicains en 1923 et a été ordonné prêtre le 15 avril 1928. Après des études sociales à Lille, il enseigna d'abord au Collège dominicain d'Ottawa, avant de commencer une longue carrière à l'Université Laval de Québec. Il y fonda la Faculté des Sciences sociales. Après avoir pris sa retraite, il accepte de se rendre au Rwanda où il fonda l'Université nationale de ce pays. De retour au Canada, il résida au couvent Saint-Albert-le-Grand jusqu'à ce que son état de santé nécessite son entrée au Pavillon Saint-Dominique, à Québec. Le père Lévesque laisse dans le deuil, outre sa famille dominicaine, ses frères Ernest, prêtre du diocèse de Chicoutimi, René, dentiste, Georges-H., médecin et une soeur, Thérèse (H. Cummings) ainsi que nombreux neveux et nièces. Georges-Henri Lévesque sera exposé au couvent des Dominicains de Québec, 175, Grande Allée Ouest, jeudi de 19h à 21h30, vendredi de 14h à 17h et de 19h à 21h30. Samedi de 9h à 10h30. La messe des funérailles sera célébrée en l'église Saint-Dominique, le samedi, 22 janvier à 11h. L'inhumation se fera à Saint-Hyacinthe dans le cimetière des Dominicains (2200, rue Girouard) à 15h. (1933-2004) - 1958 (Victor + Marie-Anne Grenier) Paru le 2004/02/25 dans La Presse Monseigneur Jean Levert 1933-2004 À l'hôpital Saint-Luc de Montréal, le 24 février 2004, à l'âge de 70 ans, est décédé Mgr Jean Levert du diocèse de Mont-Laurier, fils de feu Victor Levert et de feu Marie-Anne Grenier. Il était le frère de feu Jacqueline (Gérard Millette), feu Gérard (Cécile Lauzon), Maurice (Pauline D'Avignon), Françoise (Jean Desjardins), Denise, Lucie (René Cousineau), Raymond (Marie-Paule Bisson) et André (Chantal Sakac). Outre ses frères et soeurs, il laisse dans le deuil ses deux filleuls Sylvain Levert et Josée Desjardins, de nombreux neveux et nièces, arrière-neveux et arrière-nièces, ses tantes Lucienne Levert-Gariépy et Mathilde Levert, son évêque Mgr Vital Massé, ses confrères prêtres, spécialement l'abbé Alain Morin, des centaines de collaborateurs et collaboratrices du milieu pastoral et social. Né le 15 avril 1933 à Saint-Faustin, études primaires à Saint-Faustin, classiques au Séminaire Saint-Joseph de Mont-Laurier, philosophiques et théologiques à l'Université Saint-Paul d'Ottawa, sciences sociales (M.A.) à l'Université de Montréal. Vicaire à Gracefield (1958-1960) et à Saint-Donat (1960-1965), ministère d'été (1965-1970) puis responsable à Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde du Lac Croche (1970-1979), membre de plusieurs comités diocésains importants (1971-1978), administrateur du diocèse (1978), vicaire général (1976-2001), coordonnateur diocésain (1978-2001) et économe diocésain (1985-2001), responsable du journal diocésain, membre de la Mutuelle d'églises (1979-2001) dont 14 ans à titre de président, membre du Conseil régional de la santé et des services sociaux de Laurentides-Lanaudière. Mgr Levert a publié plusieurs documents d'ordre pastoral et d'ordre social. Il a également été personne-ressource en pastorale, en éducation de la foi des adultes, aux offices du clergé, au Cégep Marie-Victorin. Enfin, il a joué un rôle régional important au plan social : Coopérative de récupération de la Lièvre, Comité ad hoc sur les anti-phytocides, président de la Table de développement humain au Sommet socio-économique de la MRC d'Antoine-Labelle (1991-1992). Déjà atteint par la maladie, il a pris sa retraite au printemps 2002. La dépouille de Mgr Levert sera exposée dans la cathédrale de Notre-Dame-de-Fourvière de Mont-Laurier, 515 rue du Pont, le vendredi 27 février, de 15H30 à 22H00 sans interruption, et le samedi 28 février de 8H30 à 10H30, heure des funérailles. L'inhumation aura lieu en après-midi au cimetière de Saint-Faustin. Plutôt que des fleurs, des dons à la Société canadienne du cancer seraient appréciés. Le frère Pierre Letellier est décédé à l'hôpital d'Ottawa le 11 février 2004, à l'âge de 73 ans. Il était le fils de feu Fernande Drouin et de feu Léon Letellier. Après ses études classiques au Collège St-Alexandre, il entre chez les dominicains où il fait profession le 4 août 1951. Il étudia la philosophie et la théologie au Collège dominicain d'Ottawa et en France, au Saulchoir. Il a été ordonné prêtre le 8 juillet 1956. À son retour au Canada, il a enseigné au Collège dominicain d'Ottawa, à la faculté de théologie, pendant de nombreuses années. Il a aussi assuré de nombreux ministères, surtout à Ottawa et dans la région. Outre sa famille religieuse, il laisse dans le deuil sa soeur Francine (Me Louis A. Toupin), sa tante Cécile Letellier (Félix Gagnon) et leurs enfants, ses nièces et neveu,Dominique Toupin (Serge L'Ecuyer), Isabelle Toupin (Guy Laurin) et Philippe Toupin; et ses petits-neveux, ses cousines Charlotte Drouin (feu Paul-Émile Légaré), Andrée et Thérèse Drouin; et petits cousins ainsi que de très proches amis d'Ottawa et de Montréal. La dépouille mortelle de notre frère sera accueillie à l'église St-Jean-Baptiste d'Ottawa, le jeudi 12 février à compter de 17h30.     3. Harold Joseph Nadeau Harold Joseph Nadeau, age 86 of Bradenton, Florida and formerly of the Danbury-Brookfield area, died on November 10, 2004 in Florida. Mr. Nadeau was born on May 25, 1918, son of the late Albert and Eva (Maurice) Nadeau in Turner Falls, MA. Harold came to the Danbury area during the Depression in search of employment. He was then employed by the Albert Meserve Tree Company. Harold enlisted in the United States Army serving during World War II. During his service in wartime Mr. Nadeau fought in several major battles, most notably, the invasion of Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge, and the liberation of the concentration camp at Dachau. Harold went on to own and operate Nadeau's Liquor Store in Brookfield from which he retired. Mr. Nadeau was well-known as a loving husband and father and was a member of St. Peter & Paul Church in Bradenton, FL. Harold was also a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 1511 in Bradenton. Harold will be sadly missed my his wife: Eileen of Florida; one son: Harold E. Nadeau of Woodbury; one daughter: Luci Muzyk of Milford; one stepson: George J. Bond of Hudson, WI; and one stepdaughter: Linda Schaigh of Bradenton, FL. Harold is preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth (Layda) Nadeau. A Parish Prayer Service will be held at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 10:00 with Rev. Fr. Tomi Thomas of St. Peter's Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. She was the wife of Roland Lavallee. They had been married for 73 years. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Albert and Regina (Antaya) Boivin, she was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket. Mrs. Lavallee was an LPN at the former Woonsocket Hospital, and at several area nursing homes for many years before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Agatha Church. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Donald Lavallee of Woonsocket; three sisters, Lillian Skory of Uxbridge, Mass., Lorraine Plant of Whitinsville, Mass., and Alice Mason of Springfield, Mass.; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Ronald Lavallee, and sister of the late Lucille Fournier, Rita Supers, and Roland, Victor and William Boivin. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Charles and Marie L. (Vanasse) Barrette, she had lived in Woonsocket most of her life before moving to Smithfield in 1989. Mrs. Barrette had worked in the state Department of Human Services before retiring in 1980. A former communicant of Holy Family Church, she had been active in parish activities for over 50 years, and was a former Girl Scout leader. She was a 1925 graduate of Woonsocket High School. She leaves two sons, Charles Barrette of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Edmund Barrette of Cumberland; three daughters, Madeleine Rochefort of San Diego, Calif., Alice M. Gallant of Port Orange, Fla., and Muriel Rinaldi of Lincoln; and 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Theophile J. L. Cliche in 1975. Born in Indian Orchard, she lived here her whole life. She worked for the Indian Orchard Mills, and Holyoke Mills paper factories, and as a factory worker in the Springfield Armory. Later she worked in the laundry room at Municipal Hospital. Viola was a former member of St. Anne's Society of the former St. Aloysius Church (now St. Jude Church). She was also a former member of the Springfield Golden Agers, Indian Orchard Branch. She is survived by her two grandchildren, Raymond L. Cliche and his fiancée Karen Rogers of Indian Orchard, and Linda C. Nugent and her husband David of Holyoke; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Millot and her husband Stanley of Springfield; five great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Besides her husband Theophile, Viola was pre-deceased by her two sons Raymond and Leon Cliche. Cormier, she is predeceased by her daughter Carol Brady. She is survived by her son Clifford J. Cormier and his wife Linda of New Durham; a brother, Jeremiah J.     3. Eleanor Ione O'Keefe, 65 Ex-Buzzards Bay resident; grandmother of four MASHPEE - Eleanor Ione (LaFond) O'Keefe, 65, died Nov. 7. She was the wife of the late James "Joe" O'Keefe. Mrs. O'Keefe was born in Minnesota. She had formerly lived in Buzzards Bay, and had been employed as a cook. Surviving are a son, James P. O'Keefe of Mashpee; two sisters, Shirley Alexander and Rochelle LaFond, both of California; and four grandchildren. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. tomorrow in Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, followed at 1 p.m. by a funeral and burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.     3. Charles H. Lavoie 1908 - 2004 LEWISTON - Charles H. Lavoie, "Charlie," 96, of Lewiston passed away following a brief illness on Friday, Nov. 12, at d'Youville Pavilion in Lewiston. He was born in Canada on April 19, 1908, the son of Ernest and Claudia Lavoie. He proudly served in the United States Army under General McArthur in the Philippines during World War II. "Charlie" married his lovely bride, Gertrude Corno Lavoie, on July 4, 1935. He and Gertrude ran a successful dairy farm on the Old Lisbon Road for more than 50 years. Together they raised four children and many foster children. He was an active member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Holy Cross Church in Lewiston. He and Irene, his companion of 12 years, enjoyed weekly dancing at the Lewiston Singles Club. He will be best remembered for his energetic and high-spirited attitude. He leaves behind Irene Sirois, his loving companion; his four children, Arlene Krysiak, of Arizona, Marie Annette Lavoie, of Massachusetts, Rena Joan Johnson, of Lewiston, and Paul John Lavoie, of Auburn; three of his 15 siblings, Ernest Lavoie, of Lewiston, Helene Gosselin, of Lewiston and Dolores Labonte, of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.     3. Mary Jane Hamel 1920 - 2004 FARMINGTON - Mary Jane Hamel, 84, a former resident of Highland Avenue, Jay, died Friday, Nov. 12, at Sandy River Nursing Home in Farmington. She had previously resided at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington for 1-1/2 years, and for five years she had an apartment at the Livermore Falls bank building. She was born Oct. 17, 1920, in Berlin, N.H., the daughter of Pearley and Mary Josephine Bircher Mandigo. She attended school in Berlin and the Livermore Falls school systems. She married Leo L. Hamel on Nov. 27, 1941, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. They made their home and raised their family in Jay. He died June 19, 1986. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church. She enjoyed reading, crafts, the Boston Red Sox, and was a very good cook. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Jo Hamel of Jay, Jean Potvin and her husband, Richard, of Glen Burnie, Md., and Jane DiPompo and her husband, Robert Nelson DiPompo Jr., of Jay; four grandchildren, Michael Hamel, Emma DiPompo, and Terri and Richard Potvin. She was predeceased by her son, David Hamel; six sisters, Gladys Cloutier Constantine, Minnie Luciano, Viola LaBrecque, Violet Tardiff, Eloise Doiron, and Clara Frazier; three brothers, Gardell "Babe," William "Bill," and Roy Mandigo.     3. Juliette G. Greenleaf 1921 - 2004 PORTLAND - Juliette G. Greenleaf, 83, of Washington Avenue, Portland, died Thursday, Nov. 11, at Mercy Hospital in Portland. She was born in Augusta on April 10, 1921, a daughter of Archie and Alice Biledeau Grenier. She attended Augusta schools. She had been employed at E.E. Taylor's in Augusta, and at Wellwood's in Portland. She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Greenleaf, of Portland; her son, Stephen Greenleaf, of Leeds; two daughters, Linda T. Greenleaf of Mineral Bluff, Ga., and Roberta E. Davis of Waldoboro; two brothers, Robert Grenier of Florida, and Norman Grenier of Augusta; three sisters, Constance Bowie of West Gardiner, Lilly Stoddard of Pittston, and Lorraine Sirois of Zephyrhills, Fla.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie-Ange Gobeil 1904 - 2004 LEWISTON - Marie-Ange Gobeil, 99, formerly of 132 Western Ave., Auburn, died Saturday morning, Nov. 13, at d'Youville Pavilion, where she had lived for the past seven years, with her family at her side. She was born Dec. 8, 1904 in East Broughton, Canada, a daughter of Pierre and Amanda Gagne Perron. She was educated in Canada schools, where she also earned her teaching certificate. She taught in a one room school house, and remained as a school teacher prior to moving to this community with her widowed mother and six siblings. On June 25, 1928, she married Amedee P. Gobeil, and together they had nine daughters. She worked as housewife and homemaker. Mr. Gobeil passed away Nov. 23, 1991. Mrs. Gobeil was a longtime and very active member of Sacred Heart Church. She was also a member of the Ladies of St. Ann, and the Golden Age Club. Her fondest joys were her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, knitting crocheting, and for many years made many afghans and other items for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens. When she was in her 70s, she took lessons in oil painting and did artwork for her family. It was also her scrapbook of newspaper clippings that became a book entitled "Memories of World War II," a collection of stories and photos of servicemen and women from Lewiston and Auburn who fought in that war. This was sold as a fundraiser for the Maine Franco-American Genealogical Society. She is survived by seven daughters and their husbands, Georgette and Richard Sampson, Mariette and Gerald Timberlake, all of Auburn, Monique and Andre Gagne of Lewiston, Marguerite and Paul Goulet of Lisbon, Patricia and Normand Marquis of Kingston, Okla., Claire and Charles Leduc of Brunswick, and Susanne and Michael Luciano of Jay; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Regina Perron, of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Anita in 1937, and Anne in 1948; and by eight sisters and six brothers.
