    3. Rita M. Fontaine 1918 - 2004 PALMER - Rita M. (Leveillee Smart) Fontaine, 86, of the Village of Three Rivers in Palmer was Called Safely Home on Sunday November 14, 2004. She was born in Three Rivers on February 23, 1918 a beloved daughter of the late Leo J. and Aurore (Laviolette) Leveillee Smart. She graduated from Palmer High School and lived in Three Rivers for many years. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Three Rivers and a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality of the Church. Her beloved husband George A. Fontaine, Jr. was Called Home on July 28, 1993. She leaves her loving son, Louis G. Fontaine and his wife Josephine M. of Belchertown. Her cherished nieces and nephew, Yvonne Lafond and her husband James of Chicopee, Louise Gardner and her husband Howie of Springfield and Andrew J. Leveillee and his wife Cynthia of Three Rivers. She was predeceased by her dear brother, Andrew Smart. Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning November 17, 2004 at 9 a.m. from the Belanger Funeral Home, 2067 Main Street in Three Rivers followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 2230 Main Street in Three Rivers. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Anne Cemetery on Main Street in Three Rivers. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday (today) November 16, 2004 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located across the street from the funeral home. "Tiny" Dorval, 67, of East Main Sat., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004 at the Country Estates Nursing Home in Agawam. Born on Feb. 13, 1937 in Chicopee to his parents Joseph A. and Marie-Reine (Lambert) Dorval, he lived in Easthampton, Southampton and in Chicopee for the last three years. He was a communicant of St. George Church and the Assumption Church in Chicopee. He worked as an electrical machinist at Package Machinery in CT and MA. He also worked at Tube Productions for many years. Richard was a Staff Sgt. in the National Guard for 20 years and was stationed at the Hdqs. Co. 2-104th, formerly located in Chicopee. He is predeceased by his wife, Margaret Bessette, who died in August of 2001. He leaves his son, Andrew Dorval; his 3 daughters, Patrice Shelkey, Jennifer Dorval and Celeste Laprade; a step-daughter, Melanie Bilodeau; and was predeceased by his step-son Ralph Bilodeau. Richard also leaves his brother, Larry Dorval and his wife Muriel of West Brookfield; a sister, Theresa and her husband Ray Lapierre of Chicopee; several grandchildren; his special nieces Lisa and Amanda Lapierre, along with many nieces and nephews; and his close friends Pauline and Paul Lizotte. Funeral will be held on Thursday Nov. 18, 2004 at 8:30 a.m. at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St., Chicopee, MA, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Assumption Church with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.     3. Howard G. Chevalier Howard G. Chevalier 1917 - 2004 SOUTH HADLEY - Howard George Chevalier, 87, of Newton Street, died November 11 at his home. Born in Holyoke, August 8, 1917, he was the son of the late George J. and Mina (Gagnon) Chevalier. Howard was raised in Holyoke and lived there for many years before moving to S. Hadley 20 years ago. He worked as a knife operator for both White & Wyckoff Manufacturing in Holyoke and Renner Davis Co. in Springfield before retiring. He was an accomplished musician, playing both the clarinet and saxophone in a band that traveled extensively. Howard will be missed by his nieces, Joan Frey of Springfield, Beverly Wilson and Nancy Laroche of South Hadley, and Cynthia Fowler of Maryland and New York, along with his nephews, James Peetz of South Hadley and John Peetz of Belchertown. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, and their wives, Lester and Helen Chevalier, and George and Hazel Chevalier, and his sister and her husband, Lillian and Albert Peetz, along with his nephew, Daniel Chevalier. He was also predeceased by his longtime companion, Hermina "Blondie" Tracy. At Howard's request, private funeral services were held at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home and St. Patrick's Church. He was buried in Notre Dame Cemetery. Laurent O. Patenaude WATERVILLE - The Rev. Laurent 0. Patenaude, 79, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, at his residence, Mount St. Joseph in Waterville, after a brief illness. He was born in Augusta on Feb. 22, 1918, the son of Wilfred and Lucie (Gilbert) Patenaude. He went to St. Augustine School in Augusta then studied at St. Charles Seminary in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, and St. Augustine Seminary in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Father Patenaude was ordained into the priesthood in Portland on June 19, 1943, by Bishop McCarthy. He was first assigned as curate to St. Andre Catholic Church in Biddeford and then to St.Joseph Catholic Church in Old Town, St. Mary«s Catholic Church in Lewiston and St. John Catholic Church in Rumford. Father Patenaude was named administrator of St. John Catholic Church, Aroostook, pastor of St. Mary Star-of-the-Sea in Stonington, St. Mary Catholic Church at Eagle Lake, Holy Family Catholic Church in Greenville and St. Louis Catholic Church in Auburn. He retired from St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Waterville because of ill health. Father Patenaude moved to Fort Myers, Fla., where he was an assistant at the Parish of the Resurrection. While he was there, he helped on weekends, said daily parish Masses and visited the sick parishioners at two hospitals every week for 15 years. During the summer, Father Patenaude had a place on Cobbossee Lake and assisted weekends in Oakland and Belgrade. Father Patenaude was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Patenaude, a Sister with the Good Shepherd Order. He leaves to mourn him, five brothers, Fr. Gerard Patenaude, Fr. Laurent Patenaude, who died Feb. 16, 1998, was celebrated Friday morning, Feb. 20, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with His Excellency Joseph Gerry, Bishop of the Diocese of Portland, officiating. He was assisted by Most Rev. Michael Cote, Auxiliary Bishop of Portland, Rev. Gilbert Patenaude, brother of the deceased, Rev. Gerard Patenaude, brother of the deceased, Rev. Lionel Chouinard, pastor of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Rev. Robert Martel, Rev. Roger Ouellette and Rev. Robert Proulx. Also present were many priests from the Diocese of Portland. Altar servers were: great-niece Venessa Fontaine, great-nephew Abram Patenaude along with Roger Tondreau and Romeo Roy. Organist was Lucille Cloutier and soloists were Dr. Raymond Patenaude, brother of the deceased along with Armand Beaulieu and Gerry Thibodeau. Ushers were Louise Patenaude, Richard Tardiff, Wilfred Fontaine, Patrick Dunn, Todd Patenaude and Johanne Patenaude. The first reading was given by nephew Charles Fontaine and the second reading was given by nephew Dominic Patenaude. The Offertory Gifts were presented by sisters of the deceased: Cecile Morin, Theresa Rodrigue and Julia Fontaine. There were representatives from St. Augustine Church, Diocese of Portland, Sisters and staff of Mount St. Joseph of Waterville, Knights of Columbus, Kennebec Savings Bank, Calumet Club, Frank Pomerleau, Inc., Pine State Trading Co., Letter Systems, Belgrade Insurance & Real Estate, Honorary bearers, from the Calumet Club, were: president Arthur Bonenfant, vice-president O«Neil Boivin, and past presidents Norman R. Veilleux, Raymond Chouinard and Jean Paul Fortin. Pallbearers were: Charles Patenaude, Steve Rodrigue, Robert Patenaude Jr., George Patenaude, Mark Fontaine and Timothy Clifford. The Color Guard was provided by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus from Michael J. McGivney Assembly of Gardiner, Cannabas Assembly of Hallowell and Abnaki Assembly of Augusta. Rémi Rédemptoriste 1936 - 2004 À l'hôpital Notre-Dame (Montréal), est décédé le 29 mai 2004, à l'âge de 67 ans, le père Rémi Parent. Né le 5 octobre 1936 à Port-Alfred (Ville de Saguenay), fils de feu Robert Parent et de Yvette Tremblay. Il fit profession religieuse chez les Rédemptoristes le 15 août 1956; ordonné prêtre le 16 septembre 1962, il a enseigné la théologie au scolasticat des Rédemptoristes à Aylmer et à Montréal, aussi à la faculté de théologie de l'Université de Montréal pendant 25 ans. Il a publié des ouvrages de théologie et de spiritualité. Pendant 30 ans, il a fait partie de la communauté «Le Chêne de Mambré» (Ville de Lafontaine). Il laisse dans le deuil, outre sa famille religieuse, sa mère, son frère aînée Claude (feu Micheline Desgagné) et Clana Demeule, sa soeur Claudette et son époux Ghislain Brassard ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces, parents et amis. Ne le 26 mai 1924 a St-Isidore de Beauce d'Ernest Parent et d'Alice Jolicoeur, il fit son cours classique au Juvenat des Peres Maristes de Sillery (1937-1943). Profes dans la Societe de Marie a Staten Island, N.Y en 1944, il poursuivit ses etudes philosophiques et theologiques au scolasticat de sa communaute a Framingham, Mass. (1944-1950). Ordonne pretre en 1950, il ajouta une annee d'etude specialisee en philosophie a Rome (1950-1951) pour s'engager ensuite dans une longue carriere d'enseignement (scolasticat de Framingham (1951-53), Seminaire de Sillery (1953-57), Universite d'Ottawa (1957-1960), college de Roberval qu'il avait lui-meme fonde (1961-67) et Seminaire Saint-Augustin a Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures (1967-1992). Aumonier a l'infirmerie des Freres Maristes depuis 1994, il y exerça son ministere de pretre jusqu'au seuil de l'eternite. Il etait natif de Ste-Odile de Rimouski. Apres avoir fait ses etudes au Juvenat Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre, au Seminaire de Rimouski, au Grand Seminaire de Rimouski et a Sherbrooke, il fut ordonne le 25 juillet 1948. Il fut vicaire a Sacre-Coeur de Port-Cartier; cure de Nathasquan, a Aguanish, Baie-Johan-Beetz, Chute-aux-Outardes, Escoumins, Forestville et a Tadoussac; missionnaire des chantiers de l'Hydro-Quebec a Manic V et procureur diocesain et du Seminaire de Hauterive. Il occupa des fonctions telles que consulteur diocesain, vicaire capitulaire du Diocese de Hauterive, auditeur pour le Tribunal Ecclesiastique de Quebec, membre du Conseil diocesain pour les affaires economiques et de plusieurs autres comites diocesains.
