BENNETT: Robert "Bob" E., 77 Monday November 22, 2004 BENNETT: Robert "Bob" E., of St. Johnsbury, died suddenly Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital at the age of 77. He was born in St. Johnsbury Valentine's Day 1927, the son of George A. and Marie (Beauregard) Bennett. Bob served his country during World War Ii in the United States Navy. A graduate of St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1945, he worked for Fairbanks Scales as a mechanical engineer for over 30 years. Bob was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church; he enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading, but his greatest enjoyment was his family. He was extremely devoted to his grandchildren, supporting sports events and being there in so many ways. On June 4, 1951, he married Rejeanne (Prevost) Bennett, who survives him in St. Johnsbury. Other survivors include a son and his wife, Stephen and Zanna Bennett of St. Johnsbury; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Richard Stokes of Groton; a brother, George Bennett of St. Johnsbury; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Bennett, July 11, 1997. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Patrick Forman celebrant. 11/22/2004ROBERT JEAN SHACKETT SHOREHAM - Robert Jean Shackett of Shoreham died Sunday morning, Nov. 21, at home with his family. He was born June 19, 1936, in Shoreham, the son of Quentin and Clarice (Couture) Shackett. He went to school in Shoreham, and joined the Air Force in 1955, as an airplane mechanic during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for Brush Motors in Middlebury. Upon meeting his future wife, Jean E. Doane, they were married on June 2, 1962, in Shoreham, where he became a dairy farmer, father, grandfather, and he was also a Shoreham volunteer fireman for over 30 years. His surivors include his wife, Jean, of 42 years; and four daughters, Karen Shackett of Shoreham; Cathy Eddy and her husband Chuck and son, Chas of Orwell; Patty Thornton and her husband Mike and their children, Cassidy and Colby of Fairhaven; Heidi Lanpher and her husband Ed and their children, Chelsea and Dylan of Shoreham; sisterin-law, Susan Doane and her friend, Rick Bellamy of Amsterdam, N.Y. He is surived also by his father Quentin of Shoreham; two brothers, Bill Shackett and his wife Marlene of Burlington, and Tom of South Caroline; a sister, Brenda Smith and her husband Burton of Fort Edward, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. in St. Genevieve's Church in Shoreham. There will be no calling hours. 11/22/2004 EVELYN E. PECOR BURLINGTON - Evelyn E. Pecor, 89, has gone to be with the Lord on Nov. 19, 2004. She was born April 14, 1915, in Underhill Center, the daughter of Rose (Breen) and Charles Bolio. She married Donald Pecor in 1933. They had nine children. She retired from wire assembly at General Electric after 23 years of service. Evelyn was a member of Cathedral Parish, and a former member of the VFW Auxillary. Evelyn loved going up to her camp. She loved traveling through the mountains, watching chipmunks, array of birds and the foliage. The most enjoyment in her life were her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. She is survived by her children, Robert Pecor and his wife Nancy, Barbara Houle and her husband John, Joyce Ward and her husband Mel, Donald Pecor and his wife Caroline, Roland Pecor and his wife Kathleen, Gary Pecor, James Pecor and his wife Terry, and Terry Pecor and his wife Linda. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; her son, Pinky; and a special friend for 18 years, Winton Gilinas. Kenneth B. Maynard FITCHBURG -- Kenneth B. Maynard, 69, of 158 Myrtle Ave., a retired Fitchburg Police Detective, died Friday, Nov. 19, in the University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after a brief illness. He was born in Fitchburg on Jan. 8, 1935, the son of Archibald F. and Hazel A. (Perry) Maynard, and lived here all of his life. Mr. Maynard was a Fitchburg Police Officer for 42 years. He began his career in 1957 with the Department and in 1972 was appointed to the Fitchburg Police Department Bureau of Criminal Investigation. In 1975 he became the Senior Forensic Photographer for the Department, including fire crime scenes, surveillance and video. In 1976 he was appointed to the Arson and Fire Investigation Unit of the Department, which included coordination and assistance of investigations with the Massachusetts Fire Marshall's office. In 1991 he became a Certified Fire Investigator for the International Association of Arson Investigators and in 1996 he was appointed to the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications Fire Investigators. He retired in 2000, and formed Maynard Investigative Services, as a Private Detective. He received many awards, including a joint award from the Governor of Massachusetts and State Fire Marshalls Office for the investigation and conviction of nine arson crimes in Massachusetts in 1998. He was chosen Policeman of the Year in 1998 by the Fitchburg Lodge of Elks and received many other commendations throughout his career. He had a very extensive education and background in fire/arson investigations, attending the National Fire Academy, the Mass. Criminal Justice Training Council, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and was a member of the Mass. Chapter of International Association of Arson Investigators. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines from 1952 to 1955. Mr. Maynard was a member of St. Bernard's Parish in Fitchburg, the Fitchburg License Commission, a lifetime member of the Eastwood Club, the Marine Corp League, the Fitchburg Police Relief Association, I.B.P.O. Local No. 342, and the American Legion Cleghorn Post No. 49. He was a 1952 graduate of Fitchburg High School and enjoyed photography and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Nancy A. (DeLisle) Maynard; two sons, Scot A. Maynard and his wife Diane of Fitchburg and Keith Maynard and his wife Elizabeth, of Ashby; one daughter, Kristine Zyczkiewicz and her husband Richard, of Norton; one brother, Donald "Frenchy" Maynard of Fitchburg; and five grandchildren, Graig, Kenneth and Christopher Maynard and Alex, Travis and Emily Zyczkiewicz; and many nieces and nephews. Edmond J. Landry SHIRLEY -- Edmond J. "Mike" Landry, 83, of 30 Chapel St., died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 20, at his residence after a brief illness. He was born in Shirley on Oct. 10, 1921, the son of Athanace and Lucy (Chaisson) Landry and was a lifelong Shirley resident. For over 40 years, Mr. Landry with his brother, Joe, owned and operated the Landry Brothers Garage in Shirley Village, retiring in 1984. Following his retirement from the garage, he worked for the Town of Shirley Water Department, Cemetery Department and Highway Department. During World War II, he served his country for four years in the United States Army Air Corps where he was stationed in England in the 339th Fighter Squadron. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. He was also a member in 1960 served as Commander of the George J. Morin American Legion Post 183 in Shirley. He was a member of the former North Middlesex County 40/8. He enjoyed woodworking, working in his vegetable garden, and spending time at his summer cottage in York Beach, Maine. Mr. Landry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anita E. (Bilodeau) Landry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edmond W. and Victoria Landry and James R. and Sharon Landry, all of Shirley; two brothers, Harold Landry and Athanace "Joe" Landry, both of Shirley; a sister, Rose Quatrale of Shirley; and two grandsons, Michael Landry and Douglas Landry, both of Shirley. Francis M. Grier FITCHBURG -- Francis M. Grier, 81, of 29 Merriam Parkway, and South Yarmouth, a retired Fitchburg Fire Department Deputy Chief, died Friday, Nov. 19, in HealthAlliance Hospital/ Leominster, after a brief illness. He was born in Fitchburg on June 21, 1923, the son of Edward and Delia (McTighe) Grier and lived here all of his life. Mr. Grier was a member of the Fitchburg Fire Department for 32 years, joining the department in 1947 as a Private. In 1952, he was promoted to Lieutenant and in 1966 to Captain and in 1978 he became a permanent Deputy Chief, retiring in 1979. Also, Mr. Grier and his brother John, owned a fuel oil delivery business, Grier Fuel Co. on Sheldon Street in Fitchburg for 15 years. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army Signal Corp and served in the Persian Gulf. He attended St. Bernard's Elementary School and was a 1941 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School. He was a member of St. Camillus de Lellis Parish in Fitchburg, the Fitchburg Fire Fighters Benefit Association and the Association of Retired State and Municipal Employees. He enjoyed fishing and especially golf and was a member of Monoosnoc Country Club and the Bass River Golf Club on Cape Cod. He was also a lifelong Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and an avid reader. Mr. Grier and his wife, Grace, gave loving care to a total of five foster children for several years and unselfishly brought others into their hearts and home. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Grace A. (Vitunskas) Grier; one son, James F. Grier of South Glastonbury, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews. He predeceased by two brothers, John J. Monday, November 22, 2004 James C. Chenell, 92 PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - James C. Chenell, 92, of 116 Austin Street in Portsmouth, died on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at the Edgewood Center in Portsmouth. Mr. Chenell was born on Entry Island in the Magdalen Islands, in Canada, on Oct. 1, 1912. He was a son of David E. and Emily (McPhail) Chenell. At the age of three, he moved with his parents to West Roxbury, Mass., where he was raised and attended school. At the age of 28, he moved to Kittery, where he was employed as a painter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years. After retirement he built and operated for many years, the Blue Roof Motel in Kittery. He was married to his wife, Mona until her death in 1971. Mr. Chenell enjoyed the company of his family, and the many children he encountered over the years, whom he adored. He was a member of the Loyal order of Moose in Portsmouth. He is survived by his family, his loving companion Yvette Faulkner and her family; his step-daughters, Patricia Dahlberg and her husband, Roger of California, and Sheila Callahan of Maine; a sister, Eleanor Chenell Quinn and her husband, Philip of Entry Island; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Herbert (Marion) Chenell of West Roxbury, Mass.; grandchildren, Mona Dobson, Ingemar Dahlberg, and James Callahan; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Katherine Dobson; a nephew, David Chenell; and several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harry, George, and Herbert. Monday, November 22, 2004 Robert Joseph Picard, 80 SPRINGVALE - Robert Joseph Picard, 80, of 3A George Street, died peacefully Saturday morning at his home following a long illness. He was in the loving care of his caregivers: wife, Roberta, her sister, Phyllis Lewis, his sister, Viola Lamontagne and his niece, Cindy Lamontagne. He was born in Springvale Sept. 23, 1924, a son of Norbert and Malvina (Plante) Picard, and had lived here all his life. He attended local schools and at an early age worked at home, cooking and cleaning and caring for his siblings. He then worked at the former Allied Novelty Shoe Shop for several years before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943. He served as a heavy machine gunner in the Normandy, Northern France Rhineland Central Europe Campaign and the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He received two Purple Hearts, four Battle Stars and an Oak Leaf Cluster. Upon his discharge in 1945, he returned to Springvale. In 1947, he married Roberta Jones and was married for 57 years. He was employed as a machinist at the former Eastern Plastics for 27 years and retired from the former Brooks Woolen Company in 1982. He was a member of the George E. Poirier Council, Knights of Columbus in Springvale, the Springvale Social Club, and the VFW in Sanford. He was a life long communicant of Notre Dame Church in Springvale. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Sanford Country Club for over 50 years, where he made seven holes-in-one during that time. He also made a hole-in-one at another course some years ago, and he attended a masters tournament in Augusta, Ga., in 1991. Bob enjoyed 40 summers at Mousam Lake where he spent many hours giving his nieces and nephews ski rides on the lake. He was also an avid snow skier and spent many winters skiing at Black Mountain in Jackson, N.H. Also, he was a storyteller, which made him one of the favorite uncles to his many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sisters, Simone Schaeffer of Philadelphia, Pa., Viola Lamontange of Sanford and Pauline and Tony Woznicki of Trevose, Pa; two brothers, Raymond and Barbara Picard of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Paul Picard of Dover, N.H. Monday, November 22, 2004 Edgard J. Violette 1914-2004 AUGUSTA -- Edgard J. Violette, 90, of Northern Avenue escaped the bonds his body had recently placed on him and passed quietly away on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Mr. Violette was born on April 1, 1914, in Drummond, New Brunswick, the son of the late Edmond and Therese (St. Amand) Violette. The family returned to the United States in 1923. He attended St. Augustine's parish school and, much to his pleasure, received his certificate of completion in 1999. He had previously received his General Educational Development diploma from Cony High School. He began his work career at 16 at Bates Manufacturing Co., Edwards Division, where he remained until he entered the Army in January 1941. He was in the 103rd Infantry Division and served with distinction and bravery in the South Pacific and was awarded two bronze stars with clusters. Through an Army buddy, he met Dorothy Bertrand, who would become his bride on June 23, 1945. He served the community as a police officer and as an Augusta city councilor; he briefly owned a tavern and was a lineman for Central Maine Power Co. before beginning his career with the Veterans Administration center at Togus, from which he retired after nearly 30 years of service. He was respected by his co-workers and appreciated by those for whom he cared. He was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church; an honorary life member of Le Club Calumet; an honorary life member of Abnaki Council 334, Knights of Columbus; a member of the Assumption Society, St. John the Baptist Union of America; a member of St. Paul's Cursillistas; and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He became a grandfather in 1983 with the arrival of Zachary Joseph Violette, who quickly became the apple of his eye. Edgard was the last of his family. He was predeceased by brothers Augustine, Aurele, Anthony, Claude, Rudolph and Maurice; and sisters Rose (infant), Nellie Grondin, Addie Lemieux Wentworth, Anita Clavette and Jeanette Betit. Edgard is survived by his bride of 59 years, Dorothy (Bertrand) Violette; his son, Richard "Rick" and his wife, Linda (Hinkley) Violette, and their son, Zachary; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him and called him friend. Friends may visit 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. Monday, November 22, 2004 Alexander J. Richards Jr. 1927-2004 MADISON -- Alexander J. Richards Jr., 77, of Madison died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at home with his family around him. He was born in Madison on April 4, 1927, the son of Alexander J. and Lucy (Ouellette) Richards Sr. He was a graduate of Madison High School, class of 1947. He married the former Lorraine DeRoche on July 10, 1948, in Madison. He served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Princeton. Alex was a lifelong resident of Madison. He was a former employee of Great Northern Paper Co., Norrwock Shoe Co. in Skowhegan, and Redmond's Saw Mill. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Waterville, retiring in 1989 after 20 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Tardiff Belanger American Legion, both in Madison. He was a communicant and eucharistic minister of St. Sebastian Church. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing golf, working in his garden, family get-togethers, and visiting with friends and neighbors. Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Lorraine of Madison; a daughter, Elaine Lloyd and husband Jeff of Madison; grandson Justin of Brighton, Mass.; granddaughter Emily of Madison; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, Frank, Joseph, Frederick and Walter; three sisters, Emaline, Rosalie and Adeline; a son, Gary; and a granddaughter, Jessica. Monday, November 22, 2004 Louise Baird, 90 PORTLAND - Our mother, Louise Baird, went home to her Lord & Savior on Friday morning, Nov. 19, 2004, at 90 years of age. She was born Louise Marie Descoteaux in Montreal, Canada, the youngest of four children. While in Canada, she met and married Thomas Baird in 1946. They moved to Scarborough, and on to Portland, living on Frances Street for over 45 years. She lived for the past four years at Clark's Terrace on Stevens Avenue. She was a member of Emmanuel Assembly on Washington Avenue. She dedicated many years of her life to leading Bible studies at various area nursing homes, one study is still in existence after 25 years. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1987. She is survived by her daughter, Louise Martin, her husband Steve of Portland, and their two children Jeff & Katie; son Charles of South Portland, and his daughter Sarah; and son Michael and his wife Debi, of Palm Bay, Fla., and their two children, Tom & Jessica. There are two great-grandchildren on the way. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jones, Rich, & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. Gloria M. Plummer, 77 PORTLAND - Gloria M. Plummer, 77, formerly of Westbrook, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at the Barron Center. She was born in Westbrook, the daughter of Ernest and Alice Delcourt Dandeneau. She attended St. Hyacinth School. Gloria worked at S.D. Warren for a short time and at the Sheraton for 10 years before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Her husband Charles Plummer died in 2001. She is survived by two sons, Wayne of Westborough, Mass., and Gary of Wichita, Kan.; three daughters, Elizabeth Fecteau of Gorham, Deborah Shaw of Standish, and Ann Marks of Copley, Ohio; a brother Ernest Dandeneau of Westbrook; three sisters, Veronica Exchange and Mary Jane Trepanier, both of Westbrook, and Theresa Cloutier of Springvale; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Marie E. Legendre, 77, of Franklin Sunday, November 21, 2004 FRANKLIN -- Marie E. (Proulx) Legendre, 77, of Franklin, died unexpectedly Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at her home. She was the wife of Edmond J. Legendre who died in 1996. Born in Lawrence, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Alma (Boissonaeult) Proulx. She was raised and educated in Lawrence, and had lived in Franklin for more than 45 years. Until retiring, she worked as an attendant at the former Medfield State Hospital for 29 years. She was an active member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, and volunteered much of her time at the Franklin Senior Center with bingo and assisting with the Meals on Wheels program. She was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, and a communicant of St. Blaise Church in Bellingham. She leaves six sons, Leo J. Legendre of Holliston, Robert P. Legendre of North Attleboro, David M. Legendre of Florida, Raymond S. Legendre of Woonsocket, R.I., Stephen J. Legendre of Attleboro, Dennis T. Legendre of Live Oak, Fla.; a daughter, Claire M. (Parslow) Green of Franklin; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Alfred Proulx, Yvonne Cunningham, Theresa Plourde, Jeannette Barbeau and Doris Theberge. The funeral will take place Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 8:15 a.m. from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin, with a funeral Mass at St. Blaise Church, 1158 Main St., Rte. 126, Bellingham, at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in the family lot in Cedar Knoll Cemetery in Taunton. Jean D. Laviolette, 86, of Bellingham Monday, November 22, 2004 BELLINGHAM -- Jean D. Laviolette, 86, of Bellingham, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Lois E. (Pickering) Laviolette. Born in Franklin, the son of the late Arthur and Margaret (Holmes) Laviolette, he was educated in Franklin schools and was a 1935 graduate of Franklin High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army where he earned the American Theatre of Operations Service Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal. He was employed as a foreman at the former Draper Corp. in Hopedale prior to his retirement in 1976. A member of the American Legion and AARP, he enjoyed fishing and traveling. A resident of Bellingham since 1953, he had lived previously in Franklin. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Gayle L. Robinson and her husband, Christopher, of Kennebunk, Maine, and Cheryl A. Correia and her husband, Richard, of Attleboro and Brewster; two grandchildren, Kerri Robinson Groff and her husband, Douglas, of Virginia, and Kyle Robinson of Utah; two step-grandchildren, Richard Correia Jr. of New Hampshire and Stacey Wellman of Seekonk; four step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur, Charles, Urban Laviolette and Elizabeth Kearnan. His funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 26, at noon at Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin. Burial with military honors will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Timothy E. Shampnois, 45, of Blackstone, formerly of Milford Monday, November 22, 2004 BLACKSTONE -- Timothy E. Shampnois, 45, of Blackstone, formerly of Milford, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Blackstone Nursing Home after an illness. Born in Mount Kisco, N.Y., the son of the late Irving and Louise (Vogler) Shampnois, he attended school in White Plains, N.Y., and schools in Norton. Mr. Shampnois had attended Stonehill College. Mr. Shampnois served in the U.S. Air Force. A resident of Norton from 1974 to 1990, he had lived in Central Falls, R.I., and then in Milford before moving to Blackstone earlier this year. He had been employed over the years as a short-order cook at various restaurants, including Bristol Farms in Norton. He was an avid artist and cartoonist as well as a guitarist. He leaves a son, Brian Shampnois of Cary, N.C.; two sisters, Susan L. Bagnoli and her husband, Edward, of Uxbridge, and Carol-Ann Shampnois of Pawtucket, R.I.; several nieces and nephews; and his stepfather, Richard Gordon of Norton. Following cremation, a celebration of his life will be held at Edwards Memorial Funeral Home in Milford, at a time to be announced.
Joseph F. Stephen WINDHAM, N.H. - Joseph Francis Stephen, 54, of Windham, died Saturday, Nov. 20, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of Jocelyne (Desrosiers) Stephen of Windham. They had been married for 29 years. He was born June 29, 1950, in Lowell, son of the late Joseph D. and Georgette (Lemieux) Stephen. He graduated from Dracut High School. Mr. Stephen was a local businessman for 27 years. He was the owner of Josco Corp., a company he founded in 1977, originally in Hudson, N.H. and currently in Nashua, N.H. He was a member of St. Kathryn Church in Hudson, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Mr. Stephen was an avid hunter and an antique car enthusiast. He enjoyed both airbrushing and being a coppersmith. Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Jason Stephen of Windham, and Jacob Stephen of Windham and his fiancee, Melanie Luciano, of Hudson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gloria Lessard of San Diego and Nina and George Georgiou of Milford, Pa.; A mother-in-law, Gisele Desrosiers of Sorel, Quebec; Two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Diane Desrosiers and Francine and Pierre Dupuis, all of Sorel, Quebec; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Alice E. Smith NASHUA, NH - Alice E. (Belanger) (Ricard) Smith, 94, a longtime resident of the Hunt Community, in Nashua, N.H., died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 17th. She was the wife of the late Raymond A. Ricard, who died in 1976, and the late Raymond I. Smith. She was born in Dexter, Maine, on April 14, 1910, daughter of the late William F. and Sedulie (Giguere) Belanger. She was educated in Maine and Canada. Survivors include a daughter, Marguerite R. Bouchard of Chelmsford; six grandchildren, John G. Bouchard, of Bend, Ore., Charles S. Bouchard M.D. of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; Philip J. Bouchard of San Francisco, Petty Broussard of Tucson, Ariz., F. Edmond J. "Mike" Landry SHIRLEY - Edmond J. "Mike" Landry, 83, of Shirley, died Saturday Nov. 20, at his home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Anita E. (Bilodeau) Landry. They had been married for 59 years. He was born in Shirley, October 10, 1921, son of Athanace and Lucy (Chaisson) Landry and was a lifelong Shirley resident. For more than 40 years, Mr. Landry and his brother Joe owned and operated the Landry Brothers Garage in Shirley Village, retiring in 1984. Following his retirement from the garage, he worked for the Town of Shirley Water Department, Cemetery Department and Highway Department. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps, where he was stationed in England in the 339th Fighter Squadron. Mr. Landry was a communicant of St. Anthony Church. He was a member and past commander of the George J. Morin American Legion Post 183 in Shirley and a member of the former North Middlesex County 40/8. He enjoyed woodworking, working in his vegetable garden, and spending time at his summer cottage in York Beach, Maine. Besides his wife, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Edmond W. and Victoria Landry, and James R. and Sharon Landry all of Shirley; two brothers, Harold Landry and Athanace "Joe" Landry both of Shirley; a sister, Rose Quatrale of Shirley; and two grandsons, Michael Landry and Douglas Landry, both of Shirley.
