Tuesday, November 23, 2004 Rose Aimee St. Amand 1914-2004 AUGUSTA -- Rose Aimee St. Amand, 90, of Glenridge Drive and formerly a longtime resident of Pleasant Hill Road, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, with her family by her side at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care at Glenridge Drive, after a brief illness. She was born in Lewiston on Aug. 30, 1914, the daughter of Charles Morin and Clara (Pelletier) Morin. Mrs. St. Amand was employed by Etonic Shoe Co. for 11 years. She had been a shoemaker from age 16 at several local shoe manufacturers until her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed sewing and knitting. Mrs. St. Amand was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Cushnoc Senior Citizens and Happy Family Senior Citizens; past president of VFW post of Augusta Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies of St. Anne Society, past president of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, past president of the Snowshoe Club and past president of ACME Snowshoe Club. Her husband, Raoul St. Amand, died on March 1, 2002. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Robert St. Amand and Reginald St. Amand; three brothers, Conrad, Lionel and Ernest Morin; and a grandson, Stephen St. Amand. Surviving are four sons, Richard St. Amand and his wife, Carole, of Augusta, Gerard St. Amand and his wife, Betsey, of Enfield, N.H., Donald St. Amand and his wife, Brenda, of Bangor and Sylvio St. Amand and his wife, Debbie, of Montclair, Calif.; one daughter, Patricia Goral and her husband, Richard, of Barnstable, Mass.; one brother, Oscar Morin and his wife, Cecile, of Augusta; a daughter-in-law, Cindy St. Amand of Hollis Center; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Tuesday, November 23, 2004 Gloria (Lessard) Gagnon 2004 ATERVILLE -- Gloria (Lessard) Gagnon passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 22, 2004, at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Facility. Mrs. Gagnon worked at C.F. Hathaway Co., Sterns, Montgomery Ward, The Yardgoods Center, and at several medical facilities as a nursing assistant. In addition she did volunteer work for several nonprofit organizations in the greater Waterville area. She was also a longstanding member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Gagnon is survived by a son, David of Boston; a brother, Treffle Lessard of Winslow; a sister, Constance Begin of Benton; and numerous nephews and nieces. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, at Notre Dame Church. Attendees are respectfully requested to refrain from sending flowers. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Robert Fugere of North Smithfield and Wayne Fugere of Rogers, Ariz.; two daughters, Darlene Reilly of Cumberland and Karen Fugere of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; two brothers, Normand Fugere of Lincoln and Noel Fugere of Wilmington, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ms. Miller was the bookkeeper and a co-operator of McDonald Electric, and a co-operator of the CC Disposal Service. She previously had owned and operated a bookstore in Southbridge for several years. She was a member of Women in the Outdoors. Besides her companion, she leaves a daughter, Tracy Buzak of Harbor Springs, Mich.; a son, Trevor McDonald of Palm Springs, Calif.; and a grandson, Nathan Gilbert of Dudley, Mass. Born in Providence, he had lived in Johnston before moving to Ocala in 1988. Mr. Parenteau had been member of the Providence Fire Department before retiring. He was a member of the Retired Fire Fighters Association. An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion, in Providence. Mr. Parenteau was a member of the Oak Run (Fla.) Bocce Club. He leaves a daughter, Carolyn M. Parenteau of Cranston; two sons, George L. Parenteau of Sarasota, Fla., and Russell J. Parenteau of Racine, Wis.; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter. Burial will be in the Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, Fla.
Sister Anne White Sr. Anne White, SP HOLYOKE - Sr. Anne White, formerly known as Sr. Marie Reparatrice, entered the Sisters of Providence in 1928, and was in the 77th year of her religious life. She was the daughter of John and Della (Considine) White. Sr. Anne served in the Admitting Office of several institutions staffed by the Sisters of Providence, including Mercy Hospital, Holy Family Institute, and St. Vincent Hospital. She was administrator of the former St. Luke's Hospital, Pittsfield for sixteen years, and during her tenure at the hospital also served as Superior of the local convent for six years. Other ministries included secretary-receptionist at the former Holy Child Guild, Westfield, and Assistant Director of Volunteers at Our Lady of Providence Home for Children, West Springfield, and Director of Volunteers at the Providence Hospital, Holyoke. After completion of studies and earning a certificate in Pastoral Ministry, Sister was a staff member of the Department of Spiritual Care at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, until her retirement. Following her retirement, Sister continued her pastoral ministry doing volunteer work with the elderly through visits to nursing homes in the Worcester area. Her ministry also included service at St. Patrick's Parish and Rutland Heights Hospital, both in Rutland, MA, St. Aloysius Parish, Rochdale and Sacred Heart Parish, Worcester. Sister was a member of many civic and professional organizations including the American College of Hospital Administrators, serving on its Administrative Board, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, Senior Service Corporation Friendly Visitors of Worcester. In 1978, she was elected an alternate to the Senate of Religious for the Diocese of Worcester. Sr. Anne White is survived by her Sisters in Community; her sister, Elizabeth Mullen of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews, including Rev. William White of New York. Tanguay, 77, of Royal Street, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2004, at his home, following a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Holyoke, he was a son of the late Ernest and Germaine (Dumas) Tanguay. His early years were spent in Granby, where he and his wife raised their family. Mr. Tanguay was employed for 32 years at Acme Chain Co., Holyoke. In 1982 he retired as production control manager, and enjoyed his retirement years in Brewster, MA and Davie, FL. He moved to Chicopee four years ago. Marcel was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was also an avid fisherman. Mr. Tanguary leaves his beloved wife of 57 years the former Doris Auclair, his devoted daughters Carol Tessier and and her husband, Hank of Chicopee, Susan Denette and her husband Marty of Ludlow, June Chartier and her husband Larry of Brewster, 2 dear sisters Evelyn Chliszczyk and Juliette McDonald both of Chicopee, 9 adored grandchildren, 8 cherished great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins. She was employed by Figaro's Restaurant in Enfield, CT for 12 years and previously worked as a professional chef at Mr. Magoo's Restaurant in Springfield, MA. She was born in Springfield, MA on September 27, 1959, one of seven sisters of Gerard Lucien and Helen Yvette (St. Marie) Morneau. Michele was a resident of Somers, CT and formerly of Springfield, MA. She graduated from Classical High School in Springfield in 1977 and received her Associates degree in Culinary Arts in 1979 from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. She was a member of the YMCA in Springfield, MA and the Shenipsit Striders of Somers, CT. She enjoyed many indoor and outdoor activities including and running, hiking, canoeing, camping, and strength training, and ran competitively. She also loved animals and especially her late German Shepard, Boris. Michele had an unparalleled zest for life. She was best known for her strong work ethic, love of music, gregarious, cheerful, humorous, loving, outgoing, and energetic demeanor, and her perseverance in life. She grew up as a tomboy, yet experienced a metamorphosis into a fine young woman. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend of 21 years, Robert Mellberg. They were married on September 9, 1983 at Trinity Methodist Church in Springfield. John Edward Duval John Edward Duval 1954 - 2004 SPRINGFIELD - John "Johnnie" Edward Duval, 50, a life long resident of this town, and beloved husband of 27 years to Mary (Bigelow) Duval, died November 20, 2004, following a brief illness. Prior to his retirement on May 21, 2004, "Johnnie" had been employed by Smith & Wesson for 30 years. Born in Springfield, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Connell) Duval and was a 1972 graduate of Springfield Trade School. He was a communicant of St. George Church, Chicopee. Johnnie was a friend of "Bills W's", and was part of the Springfield Fellowship. An avid NASCAR racing fan with John's passing, racing has lost one its most dedicated supporters and will never be the same! Besides his wife John is survived by a son John, a daughter Michelle both at home, 2 brothers Matthew Duval of Chicopee, and Mark Duval of Morton Grove, Illinois, 2 sisters Val Duval of Middlesex, Vermont Laurie Lamoreaux of South Hadley his mother-in-law, Lois Bigelow of Springfield and 11 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held for John on Wednesday 10:30 a.m. in Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway, Chicopee. Interment will be at the family's discretion. George Bonnevie SANBORNVILLE - George A. Bonnevie, 78, of Heath Road, passed away Saturday evening at the Dover Rehab and Living Center after a brief illness with cancer. Born in Lynn, Mass. on Dec. 30, 1925, he was the son of Ami and Rose (Martin) Bonnevie. He was the husband of Theresa (Raza) Bonnevie. Proud of being a veteran and to have served his country, he was one of many who fought in World War II, serving under General Patton's Army as a member of the 89th Division, 2nd Battalion, 355th Infantry Regiment. They swept through Central Europe, crossing both the Moselle and Rhine Rivers in 1945. His unit was also credited with the Liberation of the Ohrdruf Concentration Camp outside of Weimar, Germany. After the war, he was employed many years at General Electric in Lynn, Mass. at the Riverworks Plant. After his long career, he and his wife moved to Wakefield to enjoy their retirement. Besides his wife Theresa, he is survived by four sons, Arthur Bonnevie and his wife, Patricia, or Kensington, Richard Bonnevie and his wife, Andrea, of Sanbornville, Ron Bonnevie and his wife, Natalie, of Farmington, Maine, and Randy Bonnevie and his wife, Babette, of Kensington; two brothers, Alfred Bonnevie of Ossipee and Leo Bonnevie of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Claudette Ankiewicz of Lynn, Mass., and sister, Rose Marie Bonnevie of the Sisters of St. Anne's Convent of Marlborough, Mass.; nine grandsons; three great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rene Bonnevie, Claire Bonin, and Annette Couillard. ---- His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Church on the corner of Front Street and Lincoln Street in Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There will be no calling hours and burial will be private.
