Yipppeee I am a big fan of notary records this group has transcribed and indexed them ourselves we did the john Mcgregor files a few years back http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nancygcunningham/mcgregorm issisquoi/mcgregormain.htm Subject: [CAN-QC-MISSISQUOI] Notary Archives for District of Bedford for theyear 1870 For those of you that don't know, the Quebec National Archives have released some notary records on their website. Best of all, they are fully indexed and free to download (yes, FREE!). Sadly for now the only ones available are for the year 1870. The notary's name was Joseph-Théophile-Lactance Archambault. This is a link to the page http://bibnum2.banq.qc.ca/bna/notaires/05S_CN502S2/index.html?region=05S&dis trict=502 If you look on the left-hand side of the screen you'll see where it says "Index des noms". Here is a good place to start to see if you recognize any names. If you find a name you are interested in,just take note of the page number, then click on "Répertoire chronologique (1870)" and go to the corresponding page that you want to look at. If you can't read french, don't worry as most of the actual document is in English (at least the ones I looked at anyway). If you come across something you don't understand as it's in French, I'd be happy to help you out with that. Hopefully there will be more archives available in future for this area. Good luck!
