Susan gave birth to Sarah, about 1816; Ann; Enoch; Richard; William and Emily. I NEED HOPEFULLY, A CHURCH RECORD OF THEIR BIRTH/BAPTISM. John died 1850, I have his Methodist death record and also his marriage to his second wife Jerusha Keets in 1836 St Armond. Greetings. I am trying to work my way around a brick wall concerning my great-grandmother Effie May STRITE nee PELLS b.1867 in Quebec. Sometime after 1870 Effie May was adopted by Charity Elizabeth STRITE nee RHICARD (b.1822 in Missisquoi, d 1894 Missisquoi). Effie May also had a sister, Elizabeth RICHARD nee PELLS b. 1866 in Quebec, who is listed on an 1888 church baptism record that describes her as the adopted daughter of William Johnson RHICARD. This adoption would also have occurred sometime after 1870 as I have a US census record with the two girls and their birth parents James Leslie PELLS and Marion Frances KATELL living in Minnesota. This couple married in 1864 in St. Armand West. The PELLS were living in the area. KATELL is from Vermont, but her mother is Margaret Maria MERRICK, who was born 1819 in Philipsburg, Missisquoi. I have been able to determine that Charity Elizabeth RHICARD and William Johnson RHICARD were brother and sister. They are two of six children of William RHICARD and Catherine SHUFELT. William and Catherine lived in the Pigeon Hill area when they were raising their children and I believe I saw somewhere that they are buried in Pigeon Hill. I have no idea why this brother and sister each adopted one of the two girls and I am looking for the link between the RHICARD family and the PELLS/KATELL/MERRICK family. In a perfect world I would find adoption records. I am also looking for any information about Elizabeth as we did not know she existed until recently. Any thoughts, insight, help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
