What I have found is that my Mary Bloomfield Hammond (b.1816 CN-d 1843 NY) married Benjamin Franklin Hammond (b.abt 1813 VT(not proven)-d.1891 NY) on Jan 1,1838 in Clarenceville, Quebec. They had three daughters, Mary Eliza Wood, Laura Almira Wood, and Helen Cornelia Wood. Mary Hammond's parents were Joshua Prime Hammond and Eliza Yale Hammond. I do not know who Benjamin's parents were. It would be easy to drop an "s" Do you have any Hammond's in your line? That could make the connection.
