The Whitcomb Family of America , p 417, pub 1904 listed Nathaniel's wife as Dorothy White The owl, Volumes 18-21 By Wing Family of America TURNER WING (770), son of Captain Thomas and Sarah (Sperry) Wing (Sylvanus, Bachelor, Daniel, Rev. John, Matthew), was born Nov. 16, 1768, in Ashford, Conn. He went with his parents to Rockingham, Vermont, where the U. S. Census show him to have lived in 1790. The records of the First Church of Rockingham show that he married Dorothy Whitcomb, daughter of Nathaniel Whitcomb, May 19, 1784.* Turner Wing was appointed on a committee in Rockignham, March 28, 1792, to divide the town of Rockingham into school districts. His own district was comprised of the Monsons, Obers, Barrettes, and thence to Westminster line. Turner was a farmer and lived most of his life at Dunham, Canada, where his wife, died, March 25, 1825, and where he himself died, Jan. 25, 1832. The children of Turner and Dorothy (Whitcomb) Wing were: (1868) 1. Jason. (1869) 2. Stephen Roe. (1870) 3. Thomas. (1871) 4. Turner. (1872) 5. Benjamin Dudley. (1873) 6. Lucy. (1874) 7. Mary (Polly). Nathaniel Whitcomb, born in Leominster, Mass., about 1747; married in Westmoreland, N. H., Nov. 7, 1771, Lucy White. Who were her parents, and where was she born? The Whitcomb family in America by Charlotte Whitcomb mistakenly listed Nathaniel Whitcomb's wife as Dorothy instead of Lucy. 90 NATHANIEL WHITCOMB,8 (Benjamin,4 David,3 Josiah,2 John,1) was married in Westmoreland, N. H., November 7, 1771, to Dorothy White. The Revolutionary War records show that he enlisted "June 21, 1775, in Maj. Benjamin Whitcomb's Rangers; September, 1775, in Col. James Reed's regiment, and that in 1782 he was still on the rolls of the Continental Army. He died at Lisbon, N. H., in 1829. Up to date (November, 1904) research has given the above data only, but now Mr. Robert Alexander Gunn, of New York, kindly forwards the records of his ancestress, Nathaniel's daughter. CHILD: 258. DOROTHY,* born July 2, 1772, Westmoreland, N. H.; was married in Rockingham, Vt., May 19, 1791, to Turner Wing. Dorothy died in Durham, P. Q., March 25, 1825; nine children.
