Especially hoping right now to find trail of Hugh Thompson, s/o Beers and Mary (Stewart) Thompson, who migrated from northern Ireland c. 1830. I think Hugh married but am not sure. Family lived in Noyan - St Armand axis for much of the time. I don't find him in the 1851 Census, but he might be hiding right in front of me. Also, Birtrand Pendleton, b. 1868 per 1881 Census, s/o Edward and Mary (Officer) Pendleton of Farnham, not found later. What happened to him? Thanks. Best for 2010. Hi Joan, Nice to hear from you. Sorry, I have no idea how Abraham and Jacob were related. My Conklin info is all mixed up. I'm out and about today, but when I get a chance I will go through my notes and see what I can come up with. There's one major problem with our Abraham Conklin and it's one that Allen Stratton noticed (I'm assuming you've seen his research?), there may have been an Abraham, Sr. and an Abraham, Jr. who were mixed up. I discovered that with my ancestor, John Waggoner of Dunham, son of Francis Waggoner. He was often mixed up with the John Waggoner of Highgate, VT. Anyway, here's the baptismal record for now. I'll get back to you with more soon. Happy New Year! The reason I am interested is that I am descended from Jacob Conklin, who was in Stanbridge Township in 1825, and whose birthdate I estimate at about 1765, but I don't know who his father was. I'm looking for information on the parents of my great-great grandmother, Effa (or Effie) Ann (HARDY) SWEET, who was born, according to her death record in Dunham, around 08 Oct. 1823. Her death record says that her parents were Michael and Sarah (DEE) HARDY. (She was married to Jonathan P. SWEET, and she died in Berkshire, VT, 08 Feb. 1875. (Census records for 1861 Canada, and 1870 VT, has NY as her birthplace, but the death record has Dunham)). I'd love to find anything on this HARDY family as the only real information I have on Effa is her death date, and that's where her parents were listed. I've not found the Hardy family in any Canadian or US censuses. Thank you. Kathy Campbell

Happy New Year! The families I am researching are the Lachapelle's, the Labar's, the Sawyer's and the Fogal's. They lived all over over Missisquoi County including Armand, Brome and Manitoulin Island to name a few. Eventually some of them moved to Gwillimbury and married into the UEL Pringle family of of which I am a direct descendant. My first Pringle ancestor to the American Colonies was from Midlothian, Scotland. He lived among the first pilgrims who came over on the Mayflower and settled in New Haven, Connecticut. At that time he changed the Scottish spelling of his surname to Prindle. The Prindle's were Loyalists so during the American Revolution and were burned out of their homes and fled up through New York and into Canada. They joined the King's army, specifically "Butler's Rangers". For their loyalty and service, they received land grants in Ontario. Sometime after that they resumed using the Scottish spelling of their surname Pringle. Eventually my branch of the Pringle family moved southwest to Gwillimbury, Ontario. My Great - Great - Great Grandfather Darius Spencer Pringle married Mary Ann Chapelle from Gwillimbury. His son, my Great - Great Grandfather John Albert Pringle married Catherine Helena LaBar of Georgina. They immigrated in the late 1800's to Sherman, in Iosco County, Michigan. Iosco County is north of Port Huron, in St. Clair County, Michigan. From Sherman my branch of the Pringle's moved into other areas of Michigan and well beyond but there are many branches of the Pringle family who remained in Ontario, Canada as well. I'd like to hear from anyone who is connected to my line of the Pringle's. Kind Regards Patti Molenaar - Pringle Roosendaal, The Netherlands

In about 1839, Orange Smith Clark moves from St. Armand West in Missisquoi County, where he was a farmer, to Dunham Township in Missisquoi County, where he becomes a miller. He most likely worked for Zebulon Cornell at his red brick gristmill along the Pike River. The Missisquoi Museum is currently in this gristmill. A gristmill, also known as a flourmill, is a building where grain is ground into flour. Gristmills near a river make use of a water wheel for power to grind the grain into flour. -- Clint Clark Composer/ Musician/ Multimedia Designer http://www.pianonanny.com/ http://cdbaby.com/cd/clintonclark/ clint.clark.email@gmail.com "Ever dream about less paperwork?"
