Do you believe that the Government of Canada should apologize for the Home Children/Child Migrant Immigration Scheme 1869 - 1960's for any misfortune or abuse/neglect thesa children experienced? If so, following this link you will find the Petition to print off with instructions. http://canadianbritishhomechildren.weebly.com/apology-petition.html Only residents of Canada may sign this petition and their is no age restriction although there should be a basic understanding of the Home Children and the reasons for this petition. We hope that you will print these sheets off and obtain signaures. You don't have to be a descendant to sign - anyone can sign. Show it to your family, friends and colleagues at work. Copy this email to other mailing lists you maybe on to help spread the word. Contact for any questions Lori Oschefski lori.oschefski@gmail.com Thank you so very much PS There is an online Petition regarding access to records Please take a minute to add you name - thank you This petition aims to gain your support to lobby the Government of Canada to, at the very least, offer a grant to the relatives of Home Children to enable them to pay Barnardo's and other agencies in England for their family information. http://www.change.org/petitions/minister-of-citizenship-immigration-and-multiculturalism-canada-government-help-and-justice-for-the-british-home-children PSS PLEASE feel free to pass this email to other descendants, other mailing lists or others with a vested interest eg Museum, Library, GS, etc
Dear Folks; There is a system sending out messages to many mailing lists with only a suspicious link in the text. It is highly recommended you just delete the message without clicking the link. It looks like a user's email address has been hijacked in this instance....and the everyone should be cautious in the future with messages showing only a link in the body of the message. Bye for now...............Murray * List Admin
Can anyone tell me anything about John Livingstone who died by 1853 in PEI probably near Cardigan River Lot 54. A record in 1853 says John had wife, Sarah, alive 1853. Also had son Malcolm and maybe also Sarah and John; grandson Joseph and three daughters.

Hi all I have found a marriage on various Ancestry trees that I want to verify, but I know very little about Canadian records. Barbara Gray was born 1798 in Nesting, Shetland daughter of Gifford Gray and his wife Barbara Hughson. As there is no sign of her in any Shetland records we had assumed she had died young - there are virtually no death/burial records in Shetland before civil registration in 1855. According to various trees she married John Barry 20 Nov 1836, Prince Edward Island and died 5 Dec 1871 Egmont Bay, Lot, PEI. On some of the trees there are children of this marriage. Is there any way I can verify if this is 'our' Barbara or even better does anyone know of this family. Any help or advise would be much appreciated. Thanks Barbara Hi all
Around 1924 when Aage Sparvath was 17 years old, he emigrated from Denmarkto Prince Edward Island. After his arrival in Canada he changed his surname to Johnson. In 1931 he married Ruth Simpson (born october 31, 1909 in Canada) and they had 3 children: Lillian Johnson (married to Bill – surname unknown) Kenny Johnson Allison Johnson Aage Johnson died at the Prince County Hospital on October 13, 1995 and was burried at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Hello I'm trying to locate descendants of this Cornelius Little, who was originally from Ireland, came to Prince Edward Island and died in Charlottetown on 4 September 1864. Does anyone have a photograph of his headstone, or proof that he died in Charlottetown? I descend from a different Cornelius Little who came to NZ and died here in Auckland in 1883. However, there has been some confusion here, including potentially incorrect information which has been published in a book on my ancestor. I'd like to clear this up and say that these were two totally different Cornelius Littles (one who married Brigitte Costin and died in Charlottetown, and one who married Ann Flynn and died in New Zealand). Many thanks Lubok
Can anyone tell me where I could find more information about William GOLDSMITH who was a passenger on the above ship. William was not drowned in the shipwreck but died 2 months later presumably still on the island. thanks, Avon NZ

Dear Folks: 1. It will become a Christmas tradition on the lists I administer, to allow subscribers to send a query on the ancestor or family they are researching. Some may call this practice a Roll Call. I call it "looking for information on our ancestors"....!!! * We subscribed to the list to hopefully find ANY reference to the family we are researching. Therefore it is logical that we post the known information on our ancestor and make a query to the list members on the information being looked for, to further our database along. * 2. Some of these mailing lists have been in operation for almost 10 years and recently they have died off for whatever reasons. Hopefully this Christmas tradition will help you break down your brick walls; thereby taking advantage of this excellent free research vehicle. * 3. I only ask that folks post comprehensive queries. Place the surname of your ancestor in the subject line and provide as much information as you can in your message. If you get a response please take any further exclusive discussions offlist. * Merry Christmas to everyone and all the best in 2009. Bye for now.......Murray Pletsch List Administator

Hello, list. I'm researching a McKay family that moved from the New London area on Prince Edward Island to (or near) Kensington in Lot 19, Prince County, sometime between 1845 and 1853. John McKay and Catherine McLeod married in 1839 and had the seven children listed below. A daughter later told a U.S. census taker that her father (John) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and her mother (Catherine) in Canada. I'd like to identify both sets of parents. My family is going to be visiting PEI in the next couple of weeks and are hoping to find "something" related to these people. Gravestones, perhaps, or -- who knows? -- maybe even their old farm. If anyone recognizes these people or has suggestions how to learn more about them, please raise your hand! Mark E.
