    3. Have recently been reviewing some old e-mails, originating from this List. The SUBJECT MATTER , was the Long String about AGE , and in particular, how long various respondents have been in the " FINDING FOLKS " Business. THIS BEGS THE QUESTION .. What are you ( the 100's genealogists on this List ) doing with your information , to ASSURE that your years of loving, kind, all-absorbing attention, IS NOT GOING TO DIE WITH YOU ????? The review of " average AGE " OF FOLKS ON THIS LIST , tells me that I have lots of Company, on the down-side of 75 !!!!!!!! GAD !!! In LESS THAN 25 YEARS, I WILL BE A Centurion!!!!! I am now PATRIARCH of the ROBINS CLAN . with 4 children, 12 Grandchildren, and 9 Great-Grandchildren ( and counting ) . Expect to have 28 Descendants by next APRIL FOOL'S DAY !!!!!!!!! SO, what do I do to disseminate the information that I have accumulated, on 3,000 + Ancestors of OUR CLAN ????? Periodically, for the past dozen years, I have produced a " book " , for our four children, with a copy for my sister, and my brother's Family. With one for "YOURS TRULY' a total of seven copies of each issue. Publication release was usually CHRISTMAS.. The books were printed, off the computer, one page at a time. Bound, by STAPLES, or others, they should survive normal wear and tear ! Subject matter was always Family Based, pictures, stories, essays, and material related to our particular Family. Additionally, I have produced , specific Ancestor ( to me ) books, for 0ur `MAYFLOWER LINEAGE ( Proven and Accepted ) .. a Maternal Lineage ; our U.E.L. Lineage ( Proven and Accepted ) .. a Paternal Lineage; and a Lineage for THE WINTHROP SOCIETY ( Maternal ), of which I am a Charter Member. If I really want to get carried away, I have the path ( laid out for me ) 42 Generations, back to CHARLEMAGNE, the First HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR !!!!!!!! You get going on these things and you never know where they may lead :-) Our Current Christmas Book will include some of (my) writings, a section of pictures on Family COUSINS .. first, second, third, fourth, and fifth .. PLUS VARIOUS Cousins, once, twice, or more removed !!!!! ( Just to confuse the thinking ) . I am tinkering with the idea of printing comparative photos, to prove Family Resemblances... how much a niece looks like my Mother, and a Granddaughter looks like my wife, and I look like a one-half Third Cousin, once removed , of mine. But, I digress ... I have verbally told my wife, in the event that she survives me, that all my books are to go to anyone in the Family who shows an interest in perpetuating my research. Failing that, I would like them lodged with either the PENETANG MUSEUM, or HURONIA MUSEUM ( in Midland ), both of whom have (some) copies of what I have already produced. The point of all this is . WHAT are others doing to insure that their studies are not lost to posterity !!!!! Paul Robins, U.E., Wasaga Beach, Ontario.

    3. Well Paul, good question! I've noticed a niece (hubbys side) has shared her fathers research (pre computer!) to the LDS site. I haven't checked it out to see how far she's shared with them. It's only fair of her being as her Dad started doing his research when they joined the LDS Church. She sent me 5 generations back to add to my information. I have no idea how far he'd gotten but heard rumors of his connecting to some woman that had lotsa bucks. I can't think how it's spelled but Anna 'Kajan' comes to mind and I know that's not correct. I don't have that part of his research and understand she's one of the people that folks love to try to connect to. I've shared with my cousins son and attempted to help him with his maternal lines. When I get my equipment all hooked up again, I'm printing off all I've found and giving notebooks of what I have, and photo albums I've had printed off, to my sister, brother, and three cousins. This cousin will get his copy and he can leave it to that son! Eventually I may share with the LDS. Seems a good spot to leave stuff and since they've been online, they've attempted to get more of their files online and free! (Supposedly in 30 years they'll have it all online!) Since Ancestry has been expanding their information, I've found quite abit there. I'm afraid I'm not a serious enough genealogist. I enjoy finding old information, correcting things as I find errors and can share the correct info (Lama Kevin is on Ancestry for Laura Kresin! Clear image! Lousy transcriber! Moms one Aunt.) Mom said her Grandmother had 5 babies in the old country but none lived. The ships manifest (via Ancestry) shows them arriving with two little ones AND Grandmothers PARENTS and one sister!!! No story of the GrGrGrands even being here!! The local Book of Deaths shows both given names of the little ones, mis-spelled surname (close enough to check out), along with another little one. Haven't gotten those copies yet to verify. A local woman was kind enough to share the information she was given with me. I took that to the printer and had it copied in bulk to add it to what I give away. It'll be in a section of it's own. Though the researcher and I are of the same mind, they're all related, neither of us have found that necessary link....YET! I've read online, that many libraries are now requesting digital copies of Genealogy due to lack of storage room. I would think the local genealogy societies is also a good place to share your research. My boys will be told where to share my information if I haven't already done so before THE END!! Hopefully they'll do as asked. Ruth
