Armagh, Ireland, and settled shortly thereafter in the Tecumseth area. He had several children, two of whom included John (born 1817 in Armagh) and George P. (born 1834 in Ontario). There were other Hughes families listed in Simcoe County records during that same era, and would be interested if any of these are related.
