    3. Oh, this is becoming such a common problem! I do wish people would be a bit more responsible when they set up SPAM filters. At least take the trouble to review your rejected messages once in a while! Most of these issues can be traced to laziness on the SPAM filter operator's part. OK individuals can go off and sit behind their own SPAM filter in splendid isolation, that is their choice, but societies and organization broadcasting e-mail addresses on the net need to maintain open lines of communication or they become as annoying as the SPAMers they are protecting themselves from. Wendy, One thing you might try is to open an account with one of the free e-mail providers. I hesitate to recommend one in public but I'm talking about places like Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, G-Mail, etc., etc. (Just Google the words "free email account". I got over 300 million hits!) Pick one (or more) at random. It isn't hard to sign up and then you have an alternate e-mail address to send your request through. When you set up your "alternate" e-mail account, configure the new account to redirect (forward) any incoming mail to your regular account (at Shaw in your case) and you don't ever need to look at it again for incoming messages or replies. If you reserve the new address for just emergency situations it is unlikely to attract any SPAM itself. Often this will allow you to get your message through and you can then "remonstrate" with those responsible for the SPAM filter to remove their block from your regular address. I had to resort to this trick recently when an offshore ISP decided to block all messages originating from our ISP. A bit of a pain but it worked. Since opening my "emergency" e-mail address I have also used it bypass a second block (that was inadvertently set) so I feel it has well rewarded my time and trouble. The one downside to this trick is that the "free" accounts are often used by SPAM generators so they do have a fairly high blockage rate in less responsibly administered SPAM filters. It's still well worth the try though. Malcolm Archive CD Books Canada Inc. President: Malcolm Moody PO Box 11 Manotick Ontario, K4M 1A2 Canada. 3. Malcolm, you DO need to check into your backup accounts occasionally or they'll be dumped! Gmail requires once within 9 months, or was when I checked it. Hotmail use to be once every 30 days and Yahoo was once every 3 months or so. I haven't checked the guidelines in a while. So though I do recommend using them just be sure you read when you have to check in! Ruth
