    3. Georgina ........ O.C. refers to " ORDER-IN-COUCIL " , or otherwise put, the Order giving a Land Grant to the Loyalist, or the Loyalist's daughter, or son. Sons received their O.I.C. for their 21st Birthday, daughters the same or, at the time of their first marriage .. should they not be of age. (Undoubtedly made the girls a desireable catch !!!!!! ) Handy to know this, because it gives a close, approximate age, of an Individual. It closed the gap on a 3rd G-Grandfather of mine, and helped narrow down the year of his birth, to approx 1779., the Grant having been made in 1800. Paul Robins, U.E. ( My Ancestor was PETER FITZPATRICK, 2nd Battalion, King's Royal Regiment of New York ) Peter, and all of his children received O.C. Grants. -----Original Message----- From: On Behalf Of Georgina Dean Sent: June-30-07 7:22 PM To: can-ont-simcoe@rootsweb.com Subject: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] UEL This is a knowledgable bunch of people.
