    3. Another example discovered served as a reminder that, as we've discussed here before - don't discount municipal and archival sources in your genealogical quests. While perusing the Constable's Report today at the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum & Archives (yes, I'm still working on it - but I only have a few hours one day a week to do so!) - who did I bump into but one of my great grandfathers! And, he was on the "good side" of the page. I knew he worked as an excise or customs official "some time" but didn't know when or actually where for certain. Well, lo & behold, today I meet him when he was the official who charged a few folks with having a still........So - today I discovered what his occupation was in a specific time period, discovered where his territory was that he would have been responsible for - and where to buy some good hooch in 1927..........This prompted a conversation with my Dad, who in turn recalled a couple of other names of folks who worked with his grandfather and sure enough, those names have appeared throughout the report as well. Therefore, today's discovery was beneficial in a number of ways: 1.. I have an occupation and a date 2.. I have an idea of where he would have been living 3.. I have confirmation of what previously had just been family lore 4.. I discovered folks who were neighbours of my great grandfather's based on Dad's musings 5.. Most importantly - I had a lovely chat with my Dad. >From just a minor mention in an archival document, many pieces of information were discovered, and if desired, directions for future research determined. Since he was an excise man, there should be government documentation someplace, etc. I will now be quiet. That's two postings today for me - I don't like to "hog the board". Thanks for listening. Happy questing one & all.
