List members may recall a post from me on July 28, when I asked for information on George & Jane WALKER. In a single day I was inundated with information; it was a most amazing experience. I've just discovered tonight that another of my 'families' emigrated from Somerset, England to Medonte Twp, Simcoe County. This was about 1850, and it involves a younger sister of my G3 grandfather. She was Marianne WALKER, or Mary Ann in Canada. The family was as follows (with birth years in Richard RUSSELL (1809) Mary Ann RUSSELL, nee WALKER (1815) Joseph RUSSELL (1837) Charles RUSSELL (1839) Elizabeth Kimber RUSSELL (1841) Edwin RUSSELL (1843) Job RUSSELL (1844) Eli RUSSELL (1847) William Walker RUSSELL (1849) Thanks to this list I had a few links to try, and sure enough I find references to members of this family. The Simcoe County Branch's Settlers Database is excellent. It has the entire family except for Mary Ann, and I have no explanation for that. It would seem that Richard was allocated (or he acquired) Lot 13e Concession 10 in Medonte Twp. I've also identified some burials using the OGS website. Sadly the OCFA does not appear to have transcribed headstones for St George's Fairvalley. Does anyone have any connections to this family, or have any information that would help me to put the pieces together? I see 3 names that were not part of the family that emigrated - James (1852), Mary Ann (1856), and Jemima (1858). I wonder if these were children of Richard & Mary Ann, and born in Medonte. Any information from this List would be gratefully accepted. It's amazing to find 2 families emigrating to the same township. In fact, another of my brick walls is the family of James WALKER and Anna THOMAS, and their children Susan and James. The parish registers of West Lydford, Somerset, England note on the same page as the RUSSELLs that they are emigrating. I wonder if they too went to Canada, to Simcoe, and to Medonte. I search for them. Kind regards Kevin Walker France
