    3. Hi I have sent up an American check written for the amount of $20 and received info from the church....The nun I spoke with typed out what info they had on computer.....I asked for a copy of the original record and received typed entries of just the pertinant info. Shar Denise Slattery <dslattery@cox.net> wrote: Hello everyone - I recently came back from the FGS Conference in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and while there, did some searching in the Allen County Public Library. Found a burial register for my great great grandfather, Edouard (Andrew) Boucher, for November 1904. I would like to request this burial record from them, so I was thinking of sending in a written request, by letter form. I would also like to compensate them for their time and any copy expenses; yet, I live in the United States. Would sending American money be proper? Just wondering if anyone else has done this, and your thoughts on doing this. 3. Sharlene and Denise, Firstly, there are no nuns at St. Ann's. The office is run by an over-worked lay person. Secondly, that is all you will receive - a typed document. The old registers can no longer be photocopied. Please note: the Archdiocese of Toronto has very strict rules about access to information from their registers after 1910. They have forbidden the local churches to do this type of work unless it is required for legal purposes and the party is dead. I've posted information on this previously. See the mailing list archives. You can see the registers on LDS microfilms #1305885-6-7 and make a copy of the entry OR You can send your request to the Penetang Museum which has copies of all the original registers. We will send you a copy of the original entry; not a typed document or transcript. Contact us at genealogy@pencenmuseum.com for costs. Pam
