Sheila .... Thanks for the reply. The names Amariah, and Abijah ( I believe ) turn up in Rama, and or Mara, AS WELL. Can't make any connection, as yet !!!! According to a story, in Mary Garbutt s book MEDONTE, A TOWNSHIP REMEMBERED , somebody told the Robins boys that ROBINS WERE BIRDS !!!!!!! SO THEY ADDED A SECOND B !!!!! We stayed the course, and eventually got our picture on the back of the (old) Canadian Two Dollar Bill !!!!!!! Our FAMILY LORE says that the second B is something like dropping the A in MAC .. meant to indicate .. BORN ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE BED SHEETS !!!!!!!!! And THAT, FRIENDS . should cause a fury !!!!!!!! :-) Paul Robins -----Original Message----- From: Sheila Davidson [mailto:sheiladavidson@sympatico.ca] Sent: December-03-07 9:47 PM To: robins0379@rogers.com; can-ont-simcoe@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: Robbins & Robins Hi Paul, I am pretty sure we compared notes a few years back and couldn't come up with a connection. I descend from two Robbins' brothers, Amariah & Abijah, through 3 grandparents. These Robbins are the ones who settled in south Simcoe - Adjala Tp - land granted for their service in the War of 1812. They were originally Irish - but came to Canada from New York State. Their name was usually spelled Robins in earlier records, but most eventually changed to Robbins. So I don't think the spelling was an indication of different branches or family status - just preference. I could send you some family outlines for your comparison if you're interested.
