Richard Hodges was one of the very first settlers to this area. The town of Hawkestone was called Hodges Landing originally after him. St. Helen's the house on the lake in Hawkestone ( now the Girl Guide Camp) is the original home he built. He assisted newcomers to the area and built the first wharf to the area. It is of historical importance as a man who helped to establish this area for settlement. It is all documented by Andrew F. Hunter ( The History of Simcoe County). I would really appreciate you considering this site as a valuable project for restoration. Some of the stones are laying on the ground. They appear to be in one piece right now but won't be for long. savinggraves.ca/ontario.htm JANICE ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul and Ruth Robins" <robins0379@rogers.com> To: <can-ont-simcoe@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 09, 2007 9:21 PM Subject: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] Leighs Corners > Perhaps WAYNE COOK CAN TELL US , just WHERE ( precisely ) is LEIGHS > CORNERS > . > > > > It is NOT listed in ONTARIO LOCATOR !!!!!!!!!
