To butt in: I won't say that you definitely will not find a directory for an individual town or city, because enterprising individuals have made odd directories for individual years and areas in the past - and today come to that. The "major" directories, however, covered much larger areas of the country (they were made to be sold and there had to be enough people living in the area to make it worth while buying the directory!) What you will need then is a directory for Ontario or for a part of Ontario. (Simcoe - being central could be in either an Eastern or a Western Ontario directory) Some major cities have their own directories and these may include the surrounding towns and villages - Toronto's "Home" district is a specific example. Now, having said that. By the 1920's phone directories are becoming significant (in terms of numbers of people included) and these tend to concentrate on smaller areas because of the "mechanics" of the phone system back then. We are reproducing a few of these for these later years because of this - when we can find 'em. They tended to get thrown away, and even libraries didn't keep them. I'm afraid we don't have one that would be any use to you - not even waiting to be reproduced - but you might want to keep an eye open for them in your searching. (I don't believe I have ever seem one "on-line" but I haven't made a diligent search either.) There IS a collection of on-line street / commercial directories at the following URL: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/canadiandirectories/022009-100.01-e.php Good luck!
