    3. I need some help, preferably from someone who is familiar with the above family in Montreal, Soulanges County and Simcoe County. In preparation for the Festival du Loup this summer, I have begun compiling all the records into a book on each of the selected families they are honouring this year. Last year I did the Desroches, Chretien and Leblanc families and this year it is the Marchand, Daoust and St-Amant families. The Marchand book is almost done but at the rate the Daoust book is going, it might be 2020 before it is finished. All the books are for sale at the Museum. <vbg> It is not the variations in the name that are the difficulty, but one man and one family. Two of us have been working on this for days and between us we have access to almost every published record - on-line, CD, Drouin, books etc. This is important because this fellow either came with his parents which makes him the son of a settler in Lafontaine or he came on his own and is from a different line altogether. Here's the story: Toussaint Dault married to Zoe Andre arrived in Lafontaine about 1864. Toussaint gives his birth year consistently as 1831 on 4 census returns. His death registration does not tally but that could be because someone else gave that information to the priest. Presumably he didn't lie on the returns, even though his wife was born in 1818 and is considerably older than he is. Bet she was tempted! In some of the records, Toussaint is living with Joachim Dault and Catherine Lalonde - no relationship is ever recorded other than the priest makes note that Catherine Dault is his mother on his burial record in 1899. The father's first name is illegible, the surname is Dault. Now this is where it gets interesting. IF Joachim and Catherine were his parents, then he was born 7 years before their marriage in 1838. Possible but not very likely. Catherine and Joachim were both a bit long in the tooth when they married - he was 32 and she was 31. A second marriage for one of them? So who are the true parents of Toussaint? We have some theories but nothing we can prove. Any help would be appreciated before we drown in paper or fall over from lack of sleep. Pam Tessier
