I have, in my possession, a portrait picture of my Father, and my Grandfather, taken at JACKSON STUDIO, in Barrie, in 1931. ( If I may boast ) the picture is of WILLIAM SMITH ROBINS ( my Grandfather ), Reeve of Tiny Township, and AULDEN COPELAND ROBINS ( my Father ), Reeve of Coldwater, the first father-son team to sit , simultaneously, on SIMCOE COUNTY COUNCIL, since its' inception in 1843. Jani, The Ontario Photographers List Volume 2 lists John F. Jackson as being in business from 1901 to 1922. In all fairness the book only goes to 1925, Paul's message indicates that his father and grandfather had their photo taken at Jackson's studio in 1931. I know that he passed away on August 31, 1948 as the result of a heart attack while out on a walk. I also know that he was in business prior to 1901 as he won awards from the Canadian Association and the American Photographic Association in 1897, 1898, 1899 and at the Paris Exposition in 1900. I believe that he worked with his father in law prior to opening his own shop, and that more than likely he opened his own shop due to the death of his father in law in 1902.
