    3. The early records you will need are in the Penetanguishene Museum's Research Centre. The volunteers there have helped other people with their research on this family but I should warn you, this will be a hard go and you will encounter many brickwalls if this is indeed the same couple we have in our files. There are no baptismal records in the early church registers for a Thomas Leduc, son of Thomas, although there are records of five children born to Thomas Leduc and Mary Madeleine Callaghan. If, and it is a big if, these are his parents. There is a marriage for this couple and you are likely to find it in the on-line records of the Ontario Genealogical Society's databases at: http://www.ogs.on.ca/ogspi/welcome.htm You will also find the 1861 census on their site. A.C. Osborne in his "Migration of Voyageurs......" mentions him and that information can be found by doing a Google search. You should be able to locate "The History of Simcoe County" by Andrew F. Hunter on-line. Hunter's book is at Wayne Cook's website and Ancestry.ca. A word about Thomas Leduc born in Quebec about 1811. This will be a crap shoot. Thomas is a common name, as is Leduc. He left no information that would even give a clue as to who his parents were or where he was born. So which Thomas Leduc do you pick after you have located all the Thomas Leducs born in that large province around the year 1811? If you are serious about your research, you should be able to proceed with the information I have given you. Many of the people on this list know I don't believe in doing work for people that they could do themselves but- I'll gladly point you in the right direction. I don't want to deprive anyone of the fun of the hunt and that precious "Eureka Moment". If you give me a call at the Museum on Saturday, I will try to answer your questions. My ggg grandfather was born there in 1834 and his name was Thomas James LeDuc or Leduc. Hewent on to become a schoolteacher and moved to B.C. where he married Rose Schubert and pursued his teaching for a few years in Cache Creek and later Armstrong where he then became a farmer. He later divorced from Rose but continued to live out his life outside of Armstrong. I know a fair bit about him but am really interested in pursuing his ancestry. I believe his father was born in Quebec around 1811 and later moved to Ontario, his name was also Thomas Leduc. If I am correct in this, I would love some help in finding out about his wife and other children. There are so many Leduc's in Ontario and Quebec that I get very confused but will probably be able to sort it out with abit of help. I am thinking that because there are still quite a few Leducs in Ontario, someone else in the family may recognize ! so! > me of this info and assist me.
