Dear Lynn: Thank you so much. I think that the file you quoted could indeed be my great great grandfather. Would I be able to order the file on-line from the National Archives in England? Where did you find the record indicating that Robert John was born in Penetanguishene? I have never seen that and would like a copy. Also to date, I haven't located the birth record of his granddaughter Hannah. What I do have is a photograph of the Munro tombstone in Barrie that has her birth and death dates. Back to Robert John, a record of his birth would be helpful. Census records give his birthdate as Sept., 1833 while the 190l census gives his sister Isabel [Leadley]'s birth date as April 1833. It doesn't quite compute. The History of Vespra mentions that she was the first European child born in the township. I guess you are aware that George Sneath [son-in-law of John Munro] was my great grandfather. I'm not surprised that he would buy Munro land ...but I'm only just learning about the fact that it might have been a military grant. How do I find out? When I corresponded with Jopie, she had me send donations to the Collingwood Library for each document she sent me. I'd be happy to do that ... or to pay you a fee for any information you've already found or will find for me. Many, many thanks Ardis Kamra ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynne Kemp" <dent_48@hotmail.com> To: <can-ont-simcoe@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2007 10:32 AM Subject: [CAN-ONT-SIMCOE] John Munro of Vespra Township > Hello Ardis: > I had a look at the on-line index at the National Archives in England for > your John Munro.
