I just have to say "yeah" to this answer. I always find it a mystery why people should think that this information should be free. Many hours of long, hard work goes into the kind of information a site like ancestry provides. If you want free, order the microfilms from LDS and visit a branch....but you can't do that in your jammies! Erin __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yes, many hours of hard work by people who use Family Tree program. All your info is uploaded to Ancestory which has a program to abstract it and put under its own copywrite. True that they have scanned some records, but they are charging hefty memberships. I prefer to pay vital stats and places like Scotland's People for documentation. Family Search is free and offers great leads in spite of some of its erroneous info. There are many free areas to do research in jammies on-line and places to get copies of BMDs reasonably plus numerous free census sites such as Automated Census which is free thanks to much hard work and effort of this site's administrator and her crew of volunteers. Many doing genealogy are seniors with limited research funds.
