Wayne, I did take a look at the pic you provided and I wonder if your camera has picked up a subtle attempt by somebody to "clean up" the stone? Maybe somebody was trying to read it and committed a "no-no" ? If you look just under the crown of the stone in your pic you will see a small spot that appears lighter as if somebody had rubbed the stone with some thing ,maybe changing, ever so slightly, the surface characteristics of the ? granite? That would be my take on it and no I dont see a dog .....just an area of lighter colour or reflection due to different surface characteristics caught by your camera.(?) Just a thought. 3. Wayne: I don't want to be a killjoy......................but.................... I strongly suspect that you have a problem with your camera or its lens. I've taken many, many shots of red granite tombstones such as that (the toughest kind of tombstone to photograph in direct or indirect light). Notice that the colour and vividness of the stone overpowers the inscription, so you can't make out the letters? Not natural at all. I think it's your lens, or (if you're using a digital camera) your "card". Take it to a camera shop (such as "Black's Photography"). They'll advise you. If I understand you correctly, the "angel" image doesn't show up when you look at the stone with your own eyes. That's the clue to a defect in the camera lens, or a smudge on the lens, or a problem with the "card". Doesn't mean that I think strange things can't happen (speaking as someone who whistles past the graveyard occasionally). Anyway - as we used to say Down East - ..................... think upon it...............................
