Hi John: I wonder if you are also researching McAlister genealogy. My great grandmother, born in Nottawasaga, was Ruth McAlister, b. 17 Nov., 1841. Her father, Robert McAlister was born in April of 1817 in Carnbeg, Islay and her grandparents, Godfrey & Jennet McAlister were born on Islay in 1787 & 1792, respectively. They emigrated to Nottawasaga in the 1830s, probably as a result of the Clearances. Am interested in sharing information with others of the same family. I have photographs both identified and unidentified of family members as well as snapshots of the three areas where the McAlisters lived in Islay.
